Frankie Gavin vs Breidis Prescott

I think Rob's saying hypothetically it would be a great fight. Really, Prescott is the type of fighter that Gavin should be looking to shine against. He's rather crude and limited and has a stiff style that an effective counter puncher should relish.

But unless Gavin really starts to show signs of being sharper in his fights, at the moment it would be too risky imo. Prescott showed he is no slouch on Saturday and at this time would be quite a big step up for Frankie. Talent wise however Frankie is in another league to Prescott. If and when that starts to show through in his fights, this fight would be a good idea.

 

I'd watch it.

 

There are domestic opponents I'd rather see but it would be a good fight of contrasting styles that Gavin would need to train hard for.

 

Prescott’s worth taking in a three or four fights’ time. I’d like to see Gavin step up and show some of the sharpness he has in the past. He beats Theophane comfortably for me, but Prescott can bang, so it wouldn’t be a good idea just yet. Prescott’s nothing special, but he’s a solid contender.

 

I hear you JFT just feel like Frankie has to show something for people to say yes this is a really good fight that he can win. Hypothetically I can understand if Frankie is at his full potential then its a good fight to see. What worries me is Prescott is enormous for 140 even 6 1" I think very long arms and Frankie would be the much smaller man. prescott showed that his boxing has improved immensely and he is better at choosing his attacks and controlling the pace better.

That said he seems to have a problem of gassing after 6 which is something Frankie thankfully doesnt seem to have a problem with going 12 rounds at a decent pace.

Good fight IF Frankie looks great after 2 domestic level fight with Tibbs

Well it depends how he performs in Oct i would personally like to see him in with Daws then that should be a decent gauge of whether he is ready for Theophane or not if he gets through Daws he would probably be nominated for the title at 140 against Theophane then he can look onwards.

 

Prescott is going to make a good living coming over to Britian and losing to upcoming fighters who will then be able to say they beat the man who beat Khan

 

What styles do people think Frankie needs to face to get him ready for Euro-level guys?
