Does anybody else feel like Frankie Gavin has been around for ages? he seem to have been circling sub-european level for donkeys. Boxrec has him at #18 in the world but I can't see any decent fights for him that will advance his career. He is fighting Joseph Lamptey( #378 ) next defending his commonwealth belt. Who cares? What on earth are the W's doing with him? Van Heerden is a winnable fight in my eyes.
How would you advance him? Raise his profile? I feel frustrated for him.

They missed out when Hearn got Purdy the Bundu fight for the European IMO

If Purdy wins that then him and Gavin would be a great all Traveller European title fight. Would it get made though? Doubtful.

We put a bid in for euro then they took it to match room an must of got offered more or the same for an easier fight with purdy, I fractured my jaw last fight an also had to make a commonwealth defence early next year so thought would get it out the way an either go euro or ranking fights early next year.. But I will be stepping it up

Isn't Frankie 28, so he needs to get a move on. But being realistic its a hard division at that world level

I think everyone needs to remember that he turned pro pretty late at around 24 / 25??

Being a very good amature means he will be hitting his prime at around 30 , so he still has two years yet before being at his best.

Look at the good eastern block fighters and the Cubans , all in their 30's due to have 300 amature fights.

    Gavin will do just fine.

We need Frankie fighting in Brum, would pack out the NIA or the LG arena! - Have a word with your promoter Frankie!! - you would get massive support

Julio Diaz would be a good fight for next summer - a good measuring stick

Those opponents are no good for him. What will he learn from guys like that?

He has been a pro since 2008 (I believe?), and his career has been a slow-burner to say the least.

I don't think he'll amount to much due to the way he is being guided. He has all the tools (bar KO/Legit/one-shot power) but he really does need to crack the 10-15 barrier at world level next year.

Fair play to Frankie for being loyal to FW but I think his career has suffered massively because of it. He needs to be more active and I think with his ability he should be looking at a world title shot very soon, he's 28 now so they need to get a move on with him.

He just doesn't have that woo factor he lacks charisma and his fighting style isn't fan friendly

Frankie Gavin is now coming on a treat. He only won the British title 13 months ago and won the Commonwealth 6 months ago.

Frankie still has plenty of time. Froch was defending his British title aged 30, and fought for a world title aged 31.

Get the right fights at the right time.

can anyone see gavin becoming a world champion anytime soon, i can't he'd do well to win the euro belt, he lacks the power and seems small at the weight, guys like brook and khan would demolish him, i think fighting someone like Senchenko would be a decent estimation to see where he's at. i honestly see some of the most mediocre fighters like joseito lopez making him look like nothing.

Do you really think Matchroom would have stood by Frankie like FW did? Gavin has come on a treat in the 12 months. The future is bright.

If Frankie Gavin signs with Matchroom he will end up like Paul McCloskey and Grzegorz Proksa. Trust me.
