Typical excuses. After every defeat or poor performance there is an injury! Frankly we don't know if Gavin can beat Nigel Wright or Lenny Daws yet.
Granted it wasn't the most exciting fight to watch and it wasn't his best performance but he still won every round against a seasoned (yet faded) domestic campaigner. Business wise it made great sense - he wins an inter continental title on a PPV world title show and he gets a top ten ranking. Onto bigger things now - Theopane & Daws
He is gifted but needs a lot more work. Was dissapointed as he was not able to open Young Muttley up.
I can see where your coming from mate and your point isn't completely without foundation but I think Mutley never took any chances and accordingly Frankie didn't risk trying to open him up. I don't think it's a case that he was not able to open him up.
have to say i thought gavin did pretty well in the first few rounds but then seemed to lose his way - which is probably being knackered if he was ill. the seeming lack of a knock out punch is a more worrying and less easily solved problem!
Dunk - you clearly don't know what you're talking about in this case...... have you ever boxed a 12 round fight after just getting over a chest infection......... clearly not. This is the only time he's disappointed, and remember he won every round, so it was hardly a terrible performance. atsch
Every one agrees he is not a 147 fighter' I recon frankie did it as a favour' Thats why he had to fight with a cold' for the warren B O. Mark my words he will vacate' and the belt is back where it belongs.
The fight was due to be at a catchweight but Frankie said he didn't want any advantages so they did it at 147. He's already said that he will be campaigning at 140. Vacate the belt? It was a for a shitty WBO trinket...
whats the point of having a world top ten ranking if you aint ready for the guys at that level though:huh
Stupid isn't it. Look at Kell Brook, WBO#1 for all that time when he hadn't fought anyone at European level.
