People praising Gavin after his flawless performance against Lomax, particularly his defensive display. Then he puts in a below par performance against Young Mutley and he is slated. Two things were obvious (that is unless you are deluded or a hater) about the Mutley performance: 1. Gavin was definitely weakened due to his illness, you could hear him coughing during the rounds and Jim Watt went on and on about it in commentary. Gavin and trainer confirmed this in the post-fight interview. **** sake, the first couple of rounds Gavin was working hard, then he just dipped his performance levels and was essentially scoring points in an amateur style. Nothing like his previous performance. 2. He is a light welterweight, not a welterweight. Again, he said that in his post fight interview.
this was the thread that i was talking about on saturday night when my posts got deletedall these haters on gavins back writing him off well i believe on saturday he showed that hes nearing back to his best and he will be a force at welterweight deffo. By the tiime he gets to title level he will be alot bigger look at david haye in his early career then look at him the night he fought enzo mac he looked like a monster and was much bigger.
Quality performance by Frankie on Saturday. Looked sharp and focused. Think whatever was missing is now back.
Tell you what I gets me when talking about Gavin....... It seems like a crime to criticize him with some people. I mean you would think he's an established Champ the way some people stick up for him. They vehemently stick up for him when your not even taking a pot shot at him, when your just giving your two sense worth. Its like he's beyond even constructive criticism cause he was a World amateur Champ, its ridiculous. I mean I aint one to marginalize his achievement, and I wish him all the best, but there seems to be some real sensitivity toward him. Now I dont advocate the idiots that bash him and are overly critical, but the people who daren't are no better imo. Bottom line is most on here want Frankie to succeed, so the idiots need to turn it in, and the fanboys need to get some perspective, a grip.
no its just annoying to hear prospects like gavin and fury get written off by no bouter keyboard warriors as useless and going nowhere because they didnt look a milllion dollars in a couple of fights. Like ive sed hundred times and ill say it a hundred times more not being at your best and winning goes to show that you have alot of talent, man utd win the league most seasons because they know how to win 2-0 away at everton when they are not peforming at there best and everyone here is quick to jump and sit on brooks and prices laps but will be the first ones to start a thread critisizing them wen brook struggles with matthew hatton and price gets wobbled.
that would be my only criticism of Gavin, he has said and many others have said he is a 140lb fighter but he has never fought at that weight once as a pro. EDIT: My mistake, just had a look and he has once before. but the point is the same, if he is a LWW then he should be fighting at that weight
yeah he said he can still get to 10 stone but he dont think he will be running on a full tank for 12 rounds just because you can to a certain weight it doesnt mean its the best weight for you to operate at,its like tony bellew he was found wanting in rounds 10 11 and 12 againts clev i believe thats because he drops too much weight to get to 12st 7 i think the same thing happened to rendell munroe wen he came in at 8st 8lbs for his world title fight considering he walks around at 62kg
