Frankie Gavins trainer rips into his promoter & manager

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Jonsey, Apr 14, 2013.

  1. Early 2009. The problem with that whole class is that they've been moved so slowly, both Gavin and Degale have had 15 fights while BJS has had 17. BJS is also still operating at British/Commonwealth level but its alright as he's only 23 so plenty of time for him yet, Degale and Gavin are both 27 but Degale has been at a much higher level for quite a while, European/fringe world level. Gavin being 27 and still at British level with no likely quick move up to Euro/Fringe world on the cards isn't looking all that hopeful.

As for the other 08 class member Bradley Saunders and Joe Murray i have no ****ing idea whats going on with them.

I don't get how someone can have this expensive contract when he failed to qualify for a spot on the worlds biggest stage (The Olympics)? Other than his World Amatuer Gold, what else is he getting this (I assume) high wage for? Not exactly Rigo, is he?

Surely FW must have had some sort of "win a title before x fight or your wage gets cut from this to this" stipulation?

He said he wants loyalty and allegedly would have been well within his rights to have ****ed him off for the Horta no show but he stuck by him.

You slag him off at every opportunity, yet you don't even know that he missed the Olympics because he couldn't make weight. Like all the other fighters from Beijing, he was given a lucrative contract, probably the biggest of the lot, since he was the best of the 7 or 8 that turned over.

  7. Yeah not good,Gavin had weight issues at the Olympics.and he was the favourite to
    Get gold as I remember

As for joe Murray he has been hindered by hattons tv fallout and Bradley Saunders hasn't
Long turned over and has looked excellent to date

    David price
    James degale
    Billy Joe saunders
    Frankie Gavin

Are all good pros.some good amateurs don't even make British standard.biggest dissapointment was Tony Jeffries and that was injury related

Even if Gavin gets paid more than other promoters would pay him, the fact he fights so infrequently means that he isn't going to get paid much overall. He's fought 15 times in 4 years and has only faced one opponent who could offer him a decent payday, Witter. Even if he's getting paid 50% more than he's worth, he's still not earning as much as he could do if his career was being guided properly, and he was fighting better opponents on a regular basis.

    I remember something about Aydin.
