Going to Germany and beating DM does nothing for a prime RJJ's legacy.

    Only Jones haters believe this.

Deep down people know where the blame lies, even Roy's own fans know.

I dont know about Frank Liles but Collins was very vocal about wanting the fight.Im guessing the big money offer the American presenters speak of was not that big.Steve Collins has even said he knew he would have most likely lost to a prime Roy,he just wanted a decent bit of cash for getting in the ring.Roy pretty much wanted people to pay to fight him.

    Oh dear.....

That might be the most stupid thing I've ever read on here!

Beating the recognsed #1 in the division, in his prime, in his own backyard does nothing for Jones?

    :rofl

Dariusz should have came to America, hardly no one even knew who Dariusz was outside of Europe.

Fight in Germany ? Ask Carl Froch why he won't fight in Germany ! I love it how people want to blame Jones for not going to Germany yet to this date fighters still don't want to fight there ... wonder why :thinkAnd Collins had his shot at Jones when he fought Reggie Johnson ..Had he won that fight he would of got a crack at Roy ..Is it Roy's fault he lost ?

At the end of the day, Collins, Liles, Benn, Darius all would have fought Jones BUT only if they got a Kings Randsom to do it, there simply wasnt the money they were demanding. To fight Benn, Jones would have to sign his career over to Dirty Don King and get shafted the rest of his career. Collins was asking for 6million (I think pounds which was $12million). Darius wouldnt leave Germany and again would have wanted 3times what he was getting.

Jones had a HBO contract but these fights likely weren't massive PPV attraction and thats the problem

Yep, it's all RJJ's fault. It's also Mayweather's fault for not going to Japan to fight their feared welterweights, and Marvin Hagler avoided ALL those scary Germans!

Bottom line: When you're the champ and the recognized #1 or #2 p4p fighter in the world, it's not your job to run all over the globe chasing challengers. They're supposed to chase YOU. None of these brits did that, DM sure as **** didn't want to come fight anyone over here. There's not one of those guys that RJJ wouldn't absolutely clown in his day.

:rofl...so despite Hill, Eubank, Barber, Nunn, Calzaghe, Mitchell, Brewer, Tate, G Johnson, Griffin, Gonzalez etc all boxing in Germany, the great reluctant Roy should get a pass because there was an element of risk :happy:happy.

I agree with you but at the same time...are we now recognizing any special legacy in regards to Darius M. ? Who was the P4P #1 fighter in the world ?

I would always lean towards Darius making the move to take the risk, go over the pond and try to re-write history when practically everyone knew Roy was the best...

It doesn't give a free pass to Roy but the bigger part of the blame goes to the guys that needed to make a move in order to reach Roy's status, not the other way around !

It was a matter of ego and as a fan we all wish it wouldn't be so, but at the same time, Jones was the best, not anyone else !! I don't back up Roy's decisions but at least understand where the ego trip comes from...
