I say this because one of the guys at the gym seems to think he should be, especially after beating Nunn.

I personally don't think so, very weak claim....

NO WAY!! Where do people - not saying you - get this idea that ANY boxer who won an alphabet title should be inducted into the HOF.

The boxing HOF has ridiculously low standards already - with guys like McGuigan, and (gulp) glorified clubfighter Ray Mancini being inducted recently! And some, apparently, want to lower the bar even further.

Liles was a decent world class fighter in his day, and for that he deserves credit. But HOF?? No way in hell.

Exactly, and IMO the HOF and some people forget/ don´t know the meaning of the HOF, where only the best fighters EVER should be getting in, not only the best of an era or so... fighters like Mancini, Papp, Johansson, etc. are already in! :patsch

Your friends in the gym may be decent boxers, but it sounds like they don't know sh*t about the sport's history, even recent. This isn't uncommon, actually. Many athletes don't know jack sh*t about the sports they participate in. They don't have to.

I think you have got it wrong. A hall of fame is for fighters with fame, not necessarly greatness....;)

Liles neither had greatness or fame:good
