I think frank warren is going to ruin amir khan very soon. Khan is a great tellent but he's fighting people like micheal gomez who in my opion are E level fighters compared to Pacman and the other light weight world champions.

frank warrens eventually gona end up throwing him in with a lion like Pac and khans inexperience with elite fighters is gona show. he myt never be the same.

he myt follow in the steps of David Reid although i hope he doesn't. my advice is ditch warren, go to america and fight some hard nuts, prefferably mexicans lol and get a taste of what its like to be under real pressure

His main problem to date is that he has only fought one style of opponent. These have been upright boxers of the feather fisted variety, no brawlers, no punchers, no switch hitters, no one punch KO artists etc.

This means that he is able to be sloppy in defence and get away with it, and he also hasn't learned how to fight on the inside, something which is rare in amateur fighting.

People have ridiculed Jon Thaxton for calling out Khan constantly, but he would be a very good learning opponent for Amir, as he is clever, has decent stamina and can really punch, as well as being awkward stylistically - only for Khan to say 'I'm beyond Euro level now and want a title shot'.

We then get Michael Gomez, who, lets be honest, was hammered in a British 130lb challenge last year, and the man who beat him, Carl Johanneson, was stopped by Kevin Mitchell in an entertaining encounter.

Good point ^^ his opponents have been one dimentional and the fights ended in the same way, when he rushed in with punches and they had no answer. i reali felt he should take that Jon thaxton fite cuz that guy is a soldier, and can take a hit or two

Gomez isn't E class!! Ok,he's past his best but he was highly ranked in the world at his peak and he's still very dangerous and the only man to have beaten Alex Arthur(not that long ago)

I think the time is rapidly coming where Khan will need to leave Warren or risk stagnating his career.

I'm not saying Warren is terrible for a career or anything...but I do think he can only get a fighter to a certain level, and then seems very happy to let them go no further.

I'm sure we can all think of promising fighters that stagnated under Warren with fights that didn't improve their skills and ultimately led to their downfall when finally on the big stage.

Khan is a brilliant talent who has improved over the last year or so, but his level of opposition has not improved. He is fighting C and D class fighters over and over again. At this stage in his career he should be fighting B class fighters and soon be going onto fight A class fighters.
Warren is going to keep putting him in the ring with these poor boxers until the fans keep asking for a big, big fight against a top, top fighter. Warren will not be able to prevent Khan fighting top class fighters much longer and when it eventually does happen Khan will not be ready, and that will be down to Warren.

Gomez was at best C level, probably D level these days.

Trouble with Frank Warren is that he does what is best for himself, rather than his fighter. Many fighters are happy to go along with the theory that Frank knows best, particularly those who know that they would achieve nothing significant without Frank's influence - WBU fights etc.

The best example is Ricky Hatton, who became fed up of being told what to do and getting **** treatment for signing only a one fight deal and negotiating his own TV, and left - you can look at it two ways. Hatton would be 47-0 with SN, but would never have fought in America or had a shot at Mayweather.

Promoters should work for fighters and take a cut (much like a soccer agent) rather than fighters risking their lives for a few quid whilst the promoter becomes an instant millionaire.

Light weight is a very dangerous division now you have:

Casamayor and nate campbell - very smart fighters, all the experience in the world.

Katsidas and Juan diaz - pressure fighter, hold dynamite in punch and dont let you breathe.

Pacman and marquez - very very good boxers. all the experience in the world and cant be stopped.

then you have amir khan - hot prospect, questionable chin. very quick. but needs to be tested.

one good thing about this is that most of the other myt be at the end of there careers so khan has a chance to win a version of the world title. Khans best chance was if Gavin rees won his fight, he could have steped up and taken his title from him lol.

Of cause he is, as that motivation is what has got him to where he is at present.

Can't say the same for you.

Good point Scott - do you remember the endless WBU fights we were forced to endure with Ricky Hatton, or WBO with Calzaghe??

Khan s career may really begin with a title shot , win or lose it may be the only time his tested and ?'s answered , as franky w is'nt going to risk his money spinning golden boy on a dangerous oppenent without a belt.

I don't think Khan will will a world title at lightweight and he probably won't even face a top contender there either. He's looks too big for lightweight so by this time next year, I expect him to be in the 140lb division. It wouldn't suprise me if he jumped that and went to welterweight, which, with his chin, would be disastrous.

I think lightweight is too packed, anyway. Regardless of who wins and loses, Katsidis, Diaz, JMM, Pac, Casamayor and Campbell are going to be considered the elite fighters. The only one who has a chance of fading out is DDDiaz, because he offers so little. There is no place for Khan at 135lbs, which is another reason why he'll move up.

Warren is doing a great job and there's nothing wrong so far. Khan is starting to fight better opposition as he rises like everyone else, it's not like a fight with Pacquiao is seriously considered at this point.
