Botha. He had a great game plan against Tyson, which shows to me that he was capable of forming and sticking to fight plans.
Interesting fight. Cobb without a doubt takes the iron chin award. Botha could get caught and knocked out in the later rounds, but I would have to go with Botha by UD. He has never lost a fight on points, and I feel that he would be too crafty for Cobb to knock out.
I agree with this. He didnt have much power, but he was tough as hell and had some decent boxing skills.
Yeah, if Botha could deal with Briggs and his power I'm imagining he could deal with Cobb. He was robbed in that fight as well.
Botha was more skilled and wasn't a half bad fighter in his prime. Cobb was a tough guy with the worse footwork I have ever seen. Botha UD12 Cobb
This might sound like a cliché, but whomever wants it more on that night. I think Botha had a bit more skill, and Cobb had better stamina. Part of boxing is the effort and courage of the fighters. You do not need a lot of skill to produce a good fight. I get the feeling this one could be interesting.
The White Buffalo takes this ,Cobb had a great chin but lacked top end power,so Botha outboxes him for the win.
The Cobb of '82 against the Botha of 1995 would've been great to have seen in a time machine........... I call it a draw......... Cobb had better stamina when in-shape, but Botha had better technical skills....... Botha never had stamina.... Botha was always gased out by round 6........ Cobb showed his metal by going 15 rds with Larry Holmes....... Botha never would last the full 15 rds with a 1982 version of Larry Holmes....... Peace.... MR.BILL
Cobb's arm punching left him with few kayos on his record (which kinda makes you wonder how his kayo rate increased in his comeback), but his stamina, toughness and never say die attitude made him dangerous. You couldnt knock the man out, so whether it was 10 rounds or 15, you knew Cobb was going to be in your face always. Shavers couldnt knock him out, neither could Dokes, or Spinks, and Holmes could do nothing to him but pile on the points. Thing with Botha is, I think in this circumstance he would be too willing to slug with Cobb, go for the impossible dream of knocking him out, and end up getting exhausted by round 8, to where Cobb would come in, as if he was still fresh and start clobbering, possibly scoring a draw, if not a late TKO on Botha.
