Sky is the biggest and best platform in the UK but right now they’re failing to deliver. Granted they’re going through a transitional phase but it’s been poor. Eddie is the best promoter in the UK but it remains to be seen whether DAZN can deliver in the UK. If they take over BT Sport and get Premier League content then it’s a huge step and Sky will be under serious pressure.
If the BT deal goes ahead, but that's a big if currently as things stand. I haven't read or heard anything concrete, unless you know something we don't?
Well being European champ is a very decent level. Especially heavyweights. Can’t all be world champions lol. I can’t see this bloke going any further than that tbh
Needs to be matched exactly how Joyce has been by Sam Jones. All opponents have had winning records, lots of capable journeyman in there and he’s not afraid to take chances when they come. Feel he’s always been a few levels below Joshua and Joyce but a likeable guy who could have a solid career
Completely agree. I’m not actually the biggest fan of Jones but Joyce has been managed superbly. He’s a bit older than Clarke though and Haye/Frank needed something from him straight away. Clarke is joining a new Sky model which will try and build him a bit slower, maybe position him for a vacant title shot once they all become disbanded.
It also seems to me that up and coming fighters are not automatically running to Eddie now as they ere maybe 4/5 years ago. He's not seen as the pinnacle promoter to go to now in my opinion. Could be wrong? I also think a lot of fighters and their family's disliking Eddie ends up pushing them away from Matchroom to sign with Sky and BT. That plays a part as well.
I’m not sure he’ll reach the heights of challenging for a world title but I’m only basing that off watching him in the Olympics. Always great to have a thriving UK heavyweight scene. Loads of great fights out there for him in the coming years. Hope he stays active. No reason he can’t fight 5 or 6 times next year on Sky. Really build his profile and start him on a hot streak.
As much as I rate Hearn as a promoter, Sky have a long proven track record of making boxers millionaires. It’s really a no brainier to choose them.
He's a great guy and I'll be rooting for him all the way. I think he'll struggle to get past British level but hope he proves me wrong.
Another good addition to the UK heavyweight scene. Don't see him making too much noise if I'm honest but could make for some interesting fights.
I like the start Ben Shalom and Boxxer have made on Sky. Sky seem to be backing Boxxer which is good.
I had heard that Eddie Hearn has much more focus on the global boxing scene and does not have as much focus on the UK anymore (as I have also previously indicated in this forum).
