This was sparring, it obviously was not a gym war, i think as boxing fans we all know better than to generally judge the merits of fighters on what occurs when sparring. Enjoyed the footage, thanks for posting it.
I think a Frazier Norton fight would have been terrific. I also think Ken would have had to get in the trenches early with Joe (given Ken's forward moving style). It's a bit like that old saw about unstoppable force meets...uhh, an unstoppable force. Between the two, Norton would back up before Frazier. And Joe's hook wasn't especially far from Foreman's level of power...plus, it was faster. I see Ken landing some nice shots, but Joe's hook would land waaay to much. Ken was great at foiling classic boxers. Punchers, well.....he seemed to turn into the proverbial deer in the headlights.
Did i say Norton would easily outbox Frazier for all 15 rounds for a wide unanimous decision? No. Did I say Norton would do better than Ali against Frazier? No. All I said was that Norton showed he could be effective on the outside against Frazier. IT'S LITERALLY ON CAMERA. His reach and height were not "irrelevant", do you think Norton could do what he did in that sparring footage if he was 5'11 with short arms??? This is not the time to be digging your heels in lol.
