An even split is very rare, especially considering Mayweather's staunch attitude towards the ol' might buck, but it would be nice, and reasonable.

Mayweather has always made it a point that fighters need him. Manny Pacquiao comfortably stands out as the one who doesn't. Legacy wise they needs each other.

If I was Pac, I try for the 50 50 or dump the fight.

I dont think Pac "Needs" Mayweather.
Sure we want the fight and all, but I dont think it is fair on Pac if he gets less money than Mayweather.

Well Holyfiled was being billed as the man that beat Tyson 2 times.

So that played a large part in the purse for Holyfiled.

    Frazier needed Ali.....Ali needed Frazier.

The 50 pecent splint was fair.

    Ali 1.5mill Ron lyle $200.000
    Ali $3 mill Shavers $ 300,000
Ali $6 mill Norton $2.5 mill third fight
Ali $8 mill Holmes $3 mill
Ali $4 mill Frazier $3 mill
Also i think Ali made 7.5 mill for the two spinks fights.

After seeing those numbers it doesn't seem like Mayweather is too out of line.

Frazier was the champion. He should have gotten the bigger purse of that.

An even split for Ali-Frazier 1 was fair...in my opinion.

It means it's a bit common, doesn't mean it's right.

Ali - frazier3 saw Ali getting 6,ooo,ooo compared to joes 2,000,000.
Does anybody have any info on the supposed 1,000,000 dollar side bet between the 2 in this fight, that apparently Ali declined to take off Joe after the fight. Richard Durham claims this in his book 'The Greatest', and its such a big claim to make that im surprised ive never heard it repeated by anyone. Unless of course, its bull****

Yeah. Both Ali and Frazier had legitimate claims on being called world champion. The 50/50 split was fair.
