What? I have Marciano in the same sort of bracket as Foreman, between 10 and 14. Currently Marciano is at 10, i'm happy with that.
Coming out with a win against either of Muhammad Ali or George Foreman is ATG worthy regardless of the number of defeats. He's the only guy who can say he beat a prime Ali. It's like little Sammy Langford's KO win over Harry Wills. Yes he had an awful record against Wills, he may of lost 14 or 15 times to him or whatever it was, but those 2 or 3 wins over Wills or whatever it was are special.
Marciano is arguably a top 10 heavy. Don't give me this 'he wasn't a heavy ****. Yes he didn't weigh in at heavy in his prime, but he fought at heavy and fought heavyweights, therefore your not going to place him in all-time great cruiserweight standings are you? Believe me I'm not a Marciano fan by any stetch of the imagination, but he's a great fighter. Yes he doesn't have wins over a prime Joe Louis, or a prime Jersey Joe Walcott, or a prime Ezzard Charles, but these guys - particularly the latter two - were still strong enough to cause problems. And Marciano had heart, he had a chin, he had power, he had stamina, and he could pressure. That makes him a great fighter H2H.
Actually NO ONE can say they beat a prime Ali,his prime was the 3 1/2 years he was in exile, and 18rds of ring action after 4 years does NOT prepare you to fight the number 1 man in the world.Even though he made it close and put Frazier in the hospital.
