When you use the term "on his death bed" that ,imo is egging the pudding,or if you prefer, a wild exaggeration. If Frazier was done after FOTC where does that leave Ali who was older, and ,was in the other corner for all 3 fights?
Nearly died my arse. As far as i know lol. Christ, there's people in hospital near death for weeks that live. That's near dead.
Nobody mentions the fact that Frazier wasn't in great shape for Foreman and a lot of his later fights.
Nice avatar Chris... you sponsoring Somali Pirates now??? Foreman was an 'old man' in his comeback era...... successful at that. Love to know how these 'genuine moderns' keep such a brilliant physical nature in their 40's. You'd have to imagine Joe enjoyed his success from FOTC, and that detiorated him for the mix up with Foreman in Jamaica. Joe was a fool as a champion after FOTC.
No need for that, give them a life raft, a long stick, an RPG and an AK47 and they **** all over billion dollar navies that have nuclear subs and aircraft carriers. :rofl
Before the Ali fight, Joe's average weight was 205. After, it was 215. He never got into top shape again...
Nobody mentions the fact that Joe got up six times against Foreman, who was starting to breath heavy after the last knockdown. The interview with Don Dunphy after the fight is self evident of his fatigue. Frazier wasn't shot in this fight against Foreman because he still had the boxing skills to make this fight a respectable contest. What is plainly obvious is that he was far from the shape he exhibited from the FOTC. This is the very reasoning why I believe the Joe Frazier of 1967 - 1970 would have done considerably better against Foreman. Foreman would not have been able to hit prime Frazier as cleanly as he did in 1973, and he would have definitely been on the receiving end of Fraziers body attack.
Foreman was in a very "natural shape" for a man his age. He worked out damned hard, and was still strong as an ox. BUT he ate what he wanted whenever he wanted.
