According to many on here Frazier was washed up at 29,Marciano didn't turn pro till he was nearly 24.

I think Frazier would have a good chance to repeat Marciano's feat. I think he would kept focused all the way to the title, since he was very disciplined until beating Ali. And even tough it didn't take him 42 fights to get to that point, I don't think the number of fights is crucial here - rather the achievement of proving himself by a truly great win.

So, the question is rather: would winning the title against Walcott cause him to loose focus in the same way as the win over Ali did? I don't think so, because he'd still have a lot to prove after beating Walcott, which he really didn't have after FOTC. It's hard to go anywhere but down from there.

Also, I think even the Frazier that was bounced around by Foreman would beat Walcott (rematch), Charles and Moore (and certainly Cockell), since he was stylewise all wrong for them. They had enough power to hurt him, but not enough to KO him IMO. And that's bad news when you're in against just about any version of Frazier.

    Marciano's defence was underrated.

He had an awkward crouch that made him difficult to hit cleanly.

Frazier was no slouch defensively with his bobbing.

    A toss-up.

True. I think the extremely intensive pressure he applied in his prime may give him the nod when he started "smoking", though. On the other hand he was probably easier to hit early on.

I really dont think Floyd a chance and Cus D'amto did not either...they respected Marciano, his power, his subtle defense and constant relentless aggression and did not make the Heavyweight move till Rocky was out of the way and for good reason

    Yes.

I truly believe that Marciano & Frazier have so little between them that had they fought in each others era`s, they would have both lost & beat the exact same fighters that they did. I believe this.

Having said that Marciano had severe back problems after the Moore fight. He knew something that the rest opf the world didnt.

I think that if he had decided to fight on he would have had to take six months or a year out before his next fight.

After that who knows what he would be like?
