I'm sorry man, and I know how you feel. Frazier is an icon to my generation of boxing fans. He retired a little before I really got into the sport, but you still watched all the old fights replayed on Wide World of Sports. And I was a diehard by the time he came back in '81 to fight Cummings. Of course, it was WAY over for him by then.
If he's suffering, and I bet he is, I really hope he goes quick. Nothing good will come out of 'lasting a bit longer', his suffering will only get prolonged. I know none of us want to see such a legend go, but it seems inevitable now, so the only thing we can hope for is that he goes with as little suffering as possible.
- I lost my old man this past Superbowl weekend to Multiple Myeloma after his kidneys shut down.. Another poster was 100% accurate when he said he doesn't expect Joe to make it through this upcoming week. When your internals are ****ed, they're ****ed. I, too hope he goes quickly to avoid suffering. He doesn't deserve it and his family does not need to see him suffer.
If anyone here has ever seen Cancer take a person they'd wish God to take Smokin Joe sooner than later. Hope Joe goes at peace with himself.
Apparently, it went a lot like I thought it had. They didn't detect it until about 4 weeks ago, which is typical, btw. This means he's pretty close to the end: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/133343808.html Apparently, the business manager wants to take him to Russia for experimental treatments, and the family is against this. I can understand why, all it will do is prolong the inevitable. I sure hope this doesn't happen.
