So, let's say Foreman, Ali, Norton, and Holmes lost their titles in the 70s and retired. A young Joe Frazier is gifted the vacated title. Let's think about the opposition, including (but not limited to) Page, Coetzee, Weaver, Thomas, etc. Could Frazier have dominated, perhaps even up to (and/or including) the uprising of Tyson later in the decade?
I don't think so. There were a lot of punchers around; Weaver Shavers Cooney Coetzee Smith Bruno Witherspoon Mercado Boxer punchers Page Dokes Thomas Tubbs I wouldn't necessarily pick any single one to beat Joe ,but if he takes the champion route, [ as opposed to the Stander/ Daniels one,]he doesn't get through that bunch.
Yes. Nobody was going to deal with his conditioning and workrate. And they sure were not going to absorb very many of those left hooks to the breadbasket. Come to think of it, I don't think they absorb all those right hands to the body.
This is what got me first thinking, and of course I agree. All of the below opponents are considered fighting S moking Joe, as opposed to the mostly non-smoking Joe post-FOTC. This content is protected
Probably not. Too many talented big men—movers and punchers. But most were highly inconsistent, so it’s possible the stars would’ve aligned.
Prime from 67--71 was focused sharp and still hungry. He would beat those guys. How many of those guys can take his shots? We know Frazier is gonna keep coming, he isn't going anywhere
Well, since they're not ATGs I think we're supposed to assume that there's no way any of them could possibly hurt Frazier.
