Frazier v. Dempsey 15 rds

Frazier, by mid-round TKO.

 

Frazier has a short punch. And Dempsey didnt?

Would Dempsey have to look for Frazier?

 

I agree. Nothing new there tho mate.

 

To be fair alot of people will bring up the fact Frazier didn't start fast and Dempsey the opposite, but I'm confident that Frazier won't have to take to many clean shots in the early running he'll take Dempseys best fire back and won't be outgunned here. After the first few rounds Fraziers strength and body attack will wear Dempsey down and force a stoppage (maybe cuts).

Interestingly I take Tyson against Frazier early, but Tyson is just all round bigger, better and more explosive than Dempsey ever was and more proven against big men too.

 

Frazier survives an early onslaught and stops Dempsey after 10.

 

I favor Dempsey just a little. A bit better at pushing opportunities to the limit; also, I don't think he would be at a disadvantage in such parts of the fight that were wars of attrition -- I think a fair number of his inside punches might have shoveled inside of Joe's. I've read Ambers boxed Armstrong like this in their rematch. But, ultimately, Armstrong and Ambers split and, if Dempsey and Frazier fought twice, I'd expect a split, too. I think Dempsey would take three ought of five.

 

I think the fight would last over ten rounds, and because of that reason, I think Joe would stop Jack around the 14th round.I could see Jack flooring Joe early, but not keeping him there, and Joe would make him pay after the fourth round.

 

Damn...I can't pick a winner here. What a brawl though. Just might be the most exciting HW fight of all time. I'll have to think more on this one. Where's Burt when you need him?

I still think that Dempsey would blitz Frazier, and that a lot of people find it painfull to admit this.

 

Frazier would take him to school like Fat Willie Meehan did

 

Just having a glass of Merlot, but had to jump in...Everything that one of my very favourites Joe Frazier did, Jack Dempsey did with TWO hands...Dempsey was at his best
a lithe powerful killer who feasted on bigger men than he. He flattened Al Palzer, Carl Morris, Fred Fulton, Jess Willard, Luis Angel Firpo,all much bigger heavyweights than he.
Much more agile than Frazier,Dempsey could circle an opponent, avoiding punishment
until an opportune opening and explode inside, needing 6 inches to raise havoc with his deadly punches...I love Joe Frazier, but Dempsey kos him in 5 rounds or less....I feel that a young Mike Tyson has a better chance against a Dempsey because of his fast and
violent two handed punching that Joe Frazier lacked to the same degree...Dempsey whatever his possible faults was king of heavyweight inside warfare. Now back to my Merlot !

Quarry had quicker hands than Dempsey IMO. Quarry could hit too but not as explosive as Dempsey was. Jack definitely moved his head better and slipped and rolled with shots better.

I do think that Jack Dempsey could hurt anyone he could hit. Frazier was there to be hit. Joe took a few rounds to start really Smoking. Id lean towards Dempsey only slightly though. I think he had a big enough punch to make Frazier pay for that slow start.

 

I reckon Frazier has the better defence here. I can imagine him slipping a wild haymaker and landing that big left hook.

Dempsey is a warrior though and one knockdown won't do the job on him.

It's a close on to pick but I think ultimately Frazier wears him down for a late stoppage or a points victory.
