Over 15: Jim Jeffries Jack Johnson Harry Wills Max Baer James Braddock Joe Walcott Ezzard Charles Rocky Marciano Muhammad Ali Larry Holmes Guys I think would get him include: Lennox Lewis (close fight) Mike Tyson Joe Louis Jack Dempsey George Foreman, maybe:yep
The fighters I'd favour Frazier to beat (from my top 20) are: Marciano Dempsey Patterson Walcott (close'un) Schmeling Bowe Charles (close) 50/50-ish: Tunney Jeffries Jackson Wills Holyfield Frazier loses to: Foreman Liston Louis Lewis Tyson Ali Holmes Johnson
The Joe Frazier who defeated Ali (1971) would´ve have beaten Joe Louis (pts 15), Patterson (KO 1), Larry Holmes (pts 15), Mike Tyson (KO 8), Rocky Marciano (TKO 10) and Dempsey (pts 15). George Foreman had his number. Keeping Frazier off-balance Foreman prevented Frazier from fireing bombs. Brian Nielsen ........:-( :-( :-( :-(
It had early Liston stoppage all over it, even quicker than Foreman maybe. Thing is that if Frazier survived past about the fourth or fifth and hing in there the tide could perhaps convievable turn for him ... but Frazier was mostly a slow starter and Liston holds most of the aces here. Frazier is saved by the ref/his corner in the 4th after a few knockdowns.
According to Holmes he completely outboxed Frazier during their sparring-sessions. He may be right - Holmes always looked great in sparring. Even aginst Ali (1973 and 1974) he looked like the champion outjabbing Ali.
I hate disrespecting Frazier, but there are just a few matches I can't see him winning and this is one of. Lewis was bigger and just as strong as Foreman, hit equally as hard too with better delivery and boxing fundamentals. He was also faster and a better athlete. Frazier was very tough and of course could punch, but Lewis would keep away from his left hook and look to land big bombs himself before Frazier gets going, the uppercut is going to spell trouble for Frazier too. I think Lewis would pore it on early and get his punches off first. Lewis by KO around the 3rd or 4th.
