I believe he'd do well against Holyfield, Dempsey, Johnson, Walcott, Bowe, and Schmeling. He'd lose stoppages to Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Louis, Liston, and Marciano; although I believe matches with Liston, Louis, and Marciano would all be close, nip-and-tuck affairs while they last. Both Ali and Holmes outpoint him. Holmes comes out the less battered of the two because he was less vulnerable to the left hook.
From my understanding Frazier used to beat Holmes up in saprring he even broke Holmes ribs and paid the hospital bill since he earned more at the time. I don't think Holmes is telling the truth here I heard many times that Frazier bettered him in sparring.
I would favour Lewis, Liston, Louis and Foreman over him. Ali would be a 50/50 and I would favour Frazier over all the other great heavyweights.
Yeah I heard he did although Frazier also mentioned how awkward Norton was so maybe it was closer then we think.
You're joking right? Patterson never KO'd anyone as durable as Frazier. He couldn't KO Ellis, Quarry or Bonavena, who all was KO'd by Ali. And Ali never came close to KO Frazier during their first 27 rounds together. Sure, Frazier was a slow starter and he was wobbled by guys who weren't great punchers, but this is getting ridicolous. Foreman couldn't KO Frazier in one, and Floyd sure as hell isn't Foreman.
Well, Holmes obviously believes his jockstrap is something like 500 lbs, too! Thing is, you shouldn't believe everything Holmes says. There is a story told by a third party where Holmes says to a reporter that he's a better fighter than Ali, and when it gets back to Ali he punishes Holmes in sparring. The story doesn't tell when this is, but Ali is referred to as "the Champ" on several occasssions, so it might be as late as 1975!
He said that Frazier would've beaten Patterson in a round, and not the other way around as you thought.
Out of my top 15, I would make Frazier favorite over Holmes, Johnson, Holyfield, Walcott, and Charles, put him close to 50/50 (a little over or under, varying from person to person) against Ali, Marciano, Jeffries, Liston, Tyson and Lewis, and make him the underdog against Louis, Foreman (obviously) and Dempsey.
Hart,Corbett,Fitz50/50,Sullivan,Willard over 15,Both Spinks's, Schmeling 60/40,Johannson,Patterson,Carnera,
Prime Frazier would be able to beat (* opponents got punchers chance Ali Holmes Sharkey Carnera Burns Corbett Liston * Patterson Johanason* Baer* Schmeling* Jeffries Johnson Fighter he would lose to Dempsey (if before 10 Marciano (Rocky beats him in every dept. Frazier agreed Joe Louis (Brown Bomber power combo's wrong style for Frazier Lennox Lewis...I see Lewis being able to hold Joe off with his power and jab EVEN _UPish JJWalcott...Could go either way but JJpinpoint power and slickness tough vs Relentlesness of Frazier Ezzard Charles on a good night could out box Frazier Evander H....depends on who gets hurt early and stamina...Heart is on both ends
How do you think it goes with Jack Dempsey? Interesting that everyone is so sure that Lewis would smash up Frazier. I favour Lewis too, but I always see it as so close. Can someone who picks Rocky to beat Frazier tell me how it goes?
