Frazier is a lock over Povetkin. He's beaten bigger, he's beaten better. It'd be an awesome fight on the inside, but I can't see a way that you'd favour Povetkin. Even if you give him roids, he just wasn't good enough. The only thing thought provoking which this thread has given me is a direct comparison between Huck and Bonavena. Is Bonavena actually any better than Huck? I'd say no...

This is it, Povetkin would gas out and Joe begins to really punish him after the 8th and stops him

Povetkin beats at least 50 of the 83 heavyweight champions.

Good fight. Interesting that Povetkin has added some good scalps since this thread was created over 5 years ago, but hasn’t pushed the needle much in his favor of this fantasy fight.
Hard pressed not to pick Frazier here, he simply has better wins and size wise seems to have the dimensions and work rate that trouble Alexander. Both Huck and Hunter are smallish HW’s by today’s standards (not surpassing both were cruisers) and both gave Povetkin some serious issues (although I thought Alexander won both bouts). Frazier’s size, and engine I think leads him to victory by UD, in a very good fight.
Frazier and Povetkin share similarities - both have iron wills to win. Both are tremendous hookers. Both never lost to a lesser opponent. Both have similar number of pro fights.
    Good scrap

you make it sound like it would be highly competitive fight. Well it might be for a few rounds. IO am sure Povetkin never sees the finishing line. He is overrated anyway

I believe it would be a highly competitive fight. Povetkin has been stopped once in his career. By a 6’5 245lb prime Joshua when he was 39. It’s not unreasonable to think he could last distance. I’m assuming this is Povetkin at his best and not cherry picking the under conditioned version that fought Huck.
I am picking Frazier by decision, maybe a late stoppage. I do believe Povetkin is actually underrated.
Povetkin is bigger than most of the quality fighters Frazier stopped at 6’2 225. Throw in he has good chin, doesn’t cut, and has good defense as a technical fighter. I think there is no reason to believe that Povetkin couldn’t do as well as Bonavena or Joe Bugner. Maybe he does get chopped down by Frazier who was that good but it wouldn’t be early that’s for sure.

I’m just gonna point out that Povetkin in his prime was close to the same size as Foreman in his prime.

Yeah thats what a lot of classic guys don't realize. He's a lot better than Mathis and Ellis. Regardless Frazier was an excellent infighter and Povetkin wouldn't be trying to push frazier away. He'd fight Frazier and i think Frazier could break him down and stop him, Povetkin seems to have trouble with smaller opponents too. But Frazier is susceptible to uppercuts and Povetkin is also great at infighting so i can see Povetkin knocking him down a couple times.

Interesting fight, i'd have to favor Frazier, but Povetkin wouldn't be a walk in the park like Ron Stander, Jimmy Ellis, or Terry Daniels.
