Agree with all of that, it's all about styles, which is why you have to take each mythical matchup on its own merit and weigh up the pros and cons of both fighters.
Dempsey fought Fulton Firpo Willard Louis fought M Baer B Baer Galento Mauriello Schmeling Liston fought DeJohn Williams Valdes Lewis fought Tyson Tua V Klitschko Morrison Bruno Briggs Weaver Butler Ruddock Tyson fought Smith Ruddock Bruno Lewis Lyle fought Foreman Shavers
Not exactly sure how people are picking Joe over Lewis. Sure he has a chance, but I certainly wouldn't favor him over Lewis. It's Lewis' fight to lose imo
Bob Foster ... Point taken. I know who all these champs fought, there just seemed to be a lot of one way traffic so I had to come to Joe's rescue. I guess I was a little surprised that's all. I just dread to think how people would view his chin if he got stopped by Flynn in 1, or McCall in 2 or Brewster in 5
I disagree. Frazier in his penultimate fight, took monster shots from Foreman without taking the count. Foreman was a better puncher than both Shavers and Cooney. I just can't ever see Frazier staying down for the count against anybody.
The opposite is true. A one-trick pony with the H2H rating from beating one of the worst Alis with one of Joes best matchups. This is a nobrainer. From mcvey: Lewis fought Tyson Tua V Klitschko Morrison Bruno Briggs Weaver Butler Ruddock Considering the fighters Lewis lost to and the way he lost to, plus the sheer amount of punchers the man beat, you can give Joe a punchers chance. Thats it.
Dempsey: Great matchup. I lean Frazier--think he takes what Dempsey dishes out better than vice versa Louis: Another great matchup. Can Louis withstand Frazier's early assault? Marciano: Frazier. Faster, stronger, and at least as skilled. Liston: I think Liston stops him in the mid rounds. Lyle: Frazier Tyson: Prime Tyson by early stoppage. Basically does everything better than Frazier-- better defensively, better punch repertoire, quicker hands, better technically, greater overall strength, and too much power for Frazier to withstand Comeback Foreman: Interesting matchup. Gut reaction is Frazier but I think that Frazier's style plays right into Old Foreman's hands (literally). I don't know. Bowe: mid-round stoppage. I could see Frazier having early success with his hook before Bowe buckles down and starts catching him. Lewis: Lewis is all wrong for him. Wlad: Wlad looks harried and under pressure throughout the first half of the fight but comfortably outpoints Joe.
He batters Dempsey, Louis and Marciano, might turn the trick against Liston if he can get past his jab, outguts Lyle and old Foreman, has a tear up with Bowe (50-50), and gets outboxed and possible stopped by both Lewis and Wlad. Tyson either KOs him brutally, or gets worn down.
Daniels stung Frazier? I'll have to see this one on film. Yet another case of a guy hardly landing much who stung Frazier? More evidence Frazier could not take a good punch. Daniels lost to every decent fighter he meet. His resume of wins prior to meeting Frazier was built weak competition. Judge for yourself. http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/10886
