Oh and seeing as you believe Qawi took more punishment than Frazier. Heres an article with Qawi himself. http://thebiofile.com/2013/06/i-boxed-a-legend-dwight-qawi-remembers-boxing-george-foreman/ Question: What did Foreman’s power feel like? Qawi: “It wasn’t sharp. It was a thump. Thumping. He didn’t hit me with that much clean
the article also says he had heavyhands ,landing cleanly was never foreman strength,he did the same with Frazier,he was able to hit him more because he wasn't a slick defensive fighter,Qawi was.Foreman at 235 plus hit harder than foreman at 215 plus so your point is not really that relevant.Just cause qawi took them doesn't mean Frazier could, its unproven, qawi showed much more chin than frazier did throughout his career,if Frazier fought the harder punches that he avoided we would have a clearer answer..the truth is Frazier was more of a cruiser weight himself .
I view Qawi as more talented than Frazier. Defensively, he's what Frazier wishes he was. At the same time, Qawi is smaller than Frazier and that might make the difference here. I don't see it being a Foster type wipe out though. I can see Qawi winning some rounds for sure.
Good Point, as you said previously: 1973 Prime Foreman > 1988 early comeback Foreman I mean, Everett "Big Foot" Martin went many rounds with a comebacking Foreman. Anyway, how Frazier and Qawi did against Foreman really doesn't tell us anything about what would happen if they faced each other prime for prime. The only advantage Dwight has in this matchup is defense. I don't think you can deduce he had a better chin than Frazier just because prime George took out Frazier and much older, slower Foreman had a harder time koing Dwight. Dwight's good defense and George's faded reflexes meant Dwight didn't get hit as flush as much as Frazier. I think one key thing is that Dwight would have absolutely nothing in terms of power to discourage Joe from getting inside and going to work. Dwight was a good puncher at 175, average at 190-195.
