He's not a liar but not a doctor either.

Reputable, very reputable, doctors confirmed (with Frazier's consent of course) that his sight was very poor, culminating in surgery to remove a cataract that he had his entire career.

Doctors have reputations to uphold, and to an extent far more than guys who work in the business of professional boxing.
Futch was an expert in his own field but not an eye specialist, let's face it.

can the same be said of you - where is your evidence that reputable doctors confirmed that he had a cataract his entire proper career 1965-77?

please confirm this, because it would be sad for you to be damned by your own posts.

Futch said "good doctors" checked him periodically. Eddie didn't say he himself checked him. No idea where that notion came from.

Dr Myron Yanoff has been cited in Frazier's book, written and researched by the credible journalist Phil Berger, who reported that he advised Frazier early on that boxing would worsen the cataract. 1964 is the date given.
Yanoff himself has appeared on documentaries stating the same, I believe.
I'd be happy to be enlightened further on this subject if I'm misreading it.
If I've erred then so be it.

Dr Charles kellman performed surgery to remove the cataract in 1975, by which time Frazier claims to have been blind in the eye because of it.

You can look those doctors up. They are very reputable. Yanoff I believe is still alive.

Good doctors did check Frazier, yes.
And reported issues with his eyes, from what I can gather.
Doctors have since spoken about it.

    Futch's word is good.
All I'm saying is that doctor's word is better.

Seems like a lot of speculation to me. If they (the ones Futch talks about) reported issues with his eyes Futch is lying as he said there were no issues and he would have retired him if so.

    thats fine, my man.

there is however no reference to him being even partially blinded at that stage, just to clarify - he couldnt read charts, pretty much like me or anyone who wears glasses.

Yes, I don't think he ever claimed to be blind in any eye at the beginning of his career.
He had a cataract clouding his vision and it progressively got worse. By 1975 he probably was blind almost blind in that left eye.

I think he probably wasn't well enough sighted to box at any stage, had commission medicals been stringent as they were supposed to be.
I don't think he's alone it that either. I think a lot of guys with bad eyesight were being allowed to box due to lax enforcement of regulations.

Dr Myron Yanoff appears on this documentary talking about the condition of Joe Frazier's sight as it was prior to the fight in Manila ...

He's specific in saying Frazier's left eye was "legally blind" going into that fight and that the right eye's sight was "okay, but not very good".
