    A few things worth mentioning about this footage:

    Note the jab
    By reading the thread on the best jab in the last 20 years, it seems people have forgot his. Just look at the jab 6 seconds into the video.

    Note the body work
    Not just the effectiveness, but the variety, the frequency, and the difficulty of countering him when he is mixing the level of his punches as well as he is here.

    Note the activity level
    Busy, busy, busy. His punch output is incredible. This is how you are supposed to perform against inferior competition.

    The tenth round was amazing. He was cornered skipping and avoiding punches then push his opponent around and switches position with him.
    That's Pernell for you.

    Makes you wonder where the "runner" myth ever came from. Sure he moved more in his Lightweight days(was also better overall), but he was never an actual runner/boring fighter like a Cory Spinks, he always had a high workrate.

    Watching him prove his vast superiority over opponents is just incredible. He knew how to, and could do everything. One of my all-time favorite fighters, and my #8 ATG. I don't think he lost more than a couple of seconds in this fight. Just too good for his own good.

    LOL, U had to go there huh...

    It prob comes from his lack of "True" K.O. power.
    which is usualy the stig applied to master boxer's who don't
    have K.O.'s in their big Superfight's.
    (Although, I'd prob perfer to get K.O.'d insted of being jabbed to death)

    That clip of him making De La Hoya miss about 15 times never fails to make me smile, this is a world-class fighter with blistering hand speed and Sweet Pea puts his hands down by his side and ducks, slips, bobs & weaves in and out of all those shots. If only he had mounted an offense in that fight he would of won easily.

    I love how George Foreman spent the first 4 or 5 rounds trying futilely to convince us that this was going to be a tough fight.

    He also tells us how Brazier was doing ok early when Pernell was reserved - despite Whitaker throwing 200 punches in the first 2 rounds. :lol:

    It should also be noted that many of the same folks lauding Sweet Pea now would having been booing this masterful display, just like the fans in the 10 round.

    Sometimes you have to recognize greatness in the moment, not retroactively.
