after seeing what fred did to conn after their fight(even though conn won) could lamotta take apostoli. who gets the nod how and why?
This may not be a direct answer but I was/am a disciple of the legendary Malcolm "Flash" Gordens Tonight Boxing Program that the more hardcore NYC boxing fans remember from the 70s/80s. Flash usta rave about "people today don't realize how good Gene Fulmer was"...on and on..Fulmer was one of the Flashes pets, he made that clear!! One day Flash walks up and sez his boxing collector buddy showed him films of Apostoli and WHATTA FIGHTER HE WAS!! On and on he went..the world had a new convert. I recall him mentioning a seven punch combination at one point. My first question of course was...Was he better than Fullmer??..Oh hedda destroyed Fullmer!!! Said da Flash..And da Flash knew how to evaluate his leather pushers.
My man Cabaret Ken Overlin had the style to trouble an early version of Fred by stepping back while flurrying however Fred improved by the time he peaked vs. Conn and O mighty hell ensued!!!! Conn never shut up about Fred, said heda beat Charley Burley!! Folks say Jake possessed underrated boxing skills..Fred could only fight one way.. plough forward and swarm at their best . Fred gets inside on Jake and wins unamous!!
