Thoughts on him ? Looks the part, fast hands and good footwork and decent timing of his punches, only 23 and will improve. Gotta hand it to the kid fighting for the vacant OPBF super flyweight title against an unbeaten jap at korakuen hall on May 18th. Thats a good belt to be going after at this stage of his career, quality boxers have fought for that and gone on to fight for a world title and it beats fighting for these IBF pan pacific heap of crap belts against **** poor opponents that seems to be the norm with some aussie boxers.
Big step up for young Mundraby. Poor guy has found it very tough to get fights down below Bantamweight & has fought all over the joint (weight wise) just to get a fight in Australia. Massive step up for him, but it is for the OPBF title, the most significant of all the regional titles in the Asia-Pacific. Should he come through this a top 15 rating with the WBC will be close to happening. Best of luck to the lad on foreign soil in Japan & im sure he will do everyone proud win or lose.
a family friend fough fought him a few years back at the cairns aussie title's ( ABL) .. mundraby amatuer record was something like 85-4 or something like that had a lot of fight ... and he was only 16 !
Ben saying this kid has what it takes for a while. Good to see him steom it up and take a step in the right direction. Just a shame that he has not had those tough hard fights that prpare you better for this type of fight as he has found it hard getting good opponents at his correct weight.
It's a shame Australia lacks a lot of lower weight fighters and it's hard for young fella's like this to make a name for themselves. I thought I read a while back that he signed with Top Rank or Shaw??
Why hasnt fred mundraby fought omari kimweri..? seem like it would be a good little match up after kimweri impressive win last night.
