This content is protected Anyone else familiar with this man? One of Ike Williams' opponents, but more than that. A very underrated name on his record and an overlooked fighter in general. A record of 101-13-4 in that time was excellent, and that's what Dawson's was by the time he retired on top of a 15-0 streak to end his career on a high. To get more statistical, he was rated as such: 1945 - #8 lightweight 1947 - #3 lightweight 1948 - #2 lightweight 1949 - #3 lightweight 1950 - #2 lightweight 1951 - #6 welterweight 1953 - #8 welterweight 1954 - #5 welterweight Pretty good going, but perhaps he'd be more successful if his situation had been different. Rumour has it that the mob were involved and he wasn't getting the shots he deserved. Even so, he beat a very solid string of fighters; Joe Brown, Bee Bee Wright, Charley Salas, Vic Patrick, Tommy Bell, Jesse Flores, Virgil Akins, Bernard Docusen, Gene Burton and others. It's a testament to both Ike Williams and Freddie Dawson that Dawson was only stopped twice in his career; one was an early career stoppage, the other was a knockout at the hands of Williams in their first bout. Eventually the scoreline ended up in Williams' court at 3-0-1. If Willie Joyce had Williams' number, it was made up for with this series.
Sounds good on paper, good find :good genuinely never heard of him before I see you're going through a lot of lists lately :good fair play it's eye-opening.
Yeah, seeing as my social life will be going tits up for a month or so before I get paid, I might compile some lists similar to what I did with Robinson just now. Then we can all compare.
^^^^^^^^^sounds good mush. I paid weekly and have no such problems, though it leads to social problems of their own i.e easier supply to illeagal substances and regular nights out chasing fanny that is probably unobtainable :rofl
Manassa, never heard of him. as Fleaman says your mentioning some good names etc... you have far too much time on your hands
You would think so, but it's not like that; for instance, I threw a party round mine the other night for me and my girlfriend, so I'm not a total sociopath. Took me about an hour to do Robinson's list, all I'd be doing otherwise on a Sunday night is watching television. Just an alternate.
fair enough . i dont watch TV either so i watched Diaz vs Malignaggi instead. i could imagine you being a total hermit
Yeah I'm joking too when I say my post count's about seven per day but yours is nearly forty per day. But let's get off that subject.
If it's any consolation I'll admit that at one time I posted around the same amount, few years ago though.
I am, got his bout vs Luther Rawlings on film which he won by decision in ten. Good boxer-puncher was Dawson, he had an accurate and quick jab and good footwork allowing him to move around the ring swiftly, combined with his sound fundamentals and punch delivery makes him a hard nights work for just about anyone near his weight. Carried some good power in that right hand of his as well, he rung Rawlings bell real good a few times with it in their bout.
