    :deal Absolutely.

A fight like that on the undercard would still get loads of interest and would probably raise shed loads for charity.

It's always good to meet a fan

The difference between Flintoff and Warne is the fact that Flintoff was a fast bowler who put extreme pressure through his front leg during his bowling action (subsequently knackering his knee), whereas Warne was a leg spinner and did not. Not one fast bowler in world cricket is over 40 and only batsman in general play into their 40's and they are a very select bunch.

All the comments recently about Flintoff embarrassing boxing are laughable IMO considering they come from the same fans who champion the Tysons, Hopkins and Listons of this world with their lengthy criminal records. Do you not consider that more embarrassing for the sport?

What about the politics that ensure the top fights never happen? Or the fact that there are more associations and federations than a charity gala night? Or perhaps it endless supply of dodgy promoters. Is this not embarrassing for boxing? Apparently not, apparently it an ex english cricketer from Preston with a dodgy knee.

If he wins a few fights it will draw in new fans, if he loses then it shows how tough an enviroment professional boxing is so its win-win in my book, and not a freak show like others claim. If he wins a one or two fights he will probably be ranked in the WBO top 15 ffs. Anyone with the bottle to step in the ring at any point deserves respect, at the end of the day he does not need the money, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose so I feel people need to cut him a break.

Boxers with criminal records, dodgy promoters, corruption in the sport etc. is as old as the sport its self. Its part of it. The fact that a cricket ****in player with absolutely zero experience as a fighter can just walk into pro boxing, being trained by Barry & Shane McGuigan where as amateur champions who dream of being pro boxers end up fighting in the smallest of halls for ****in buttons, having fights cancelled on them cause of lack of money and end up becoming part time journeymen, is an embarrassment to the sport. I really, really, really hope this tosser is hospitalised and never sets foot near a boxing ring again!

WhilstI would NEVER wish for something a dreadful as that, apart from anything else it would be a really bad thing for boxing (not to mention a tragedy for his family), part of me hopes that his performance demonstrates just how hard it is to become a professional boxer.

I think the main reason people think he'll embarrass boxing is because he'll be ****.

I understand where you are coming from, but another way of looking at it, is at least he shown some balls to get in the ring and put himself out there (he of course brings his fame with him and that is why he will sell - thats what a promoter needs). Still, if I am being cynical, it is another outlet to promote Shane as some kind of Adonis boxing trainer etc. McGuigan has Sky in his pocket and the way they were lording Shane as the genius technican behind Frampton's win over Molitor was cringeworthy. They should show a bit more respect to the Irish boxing legend in Carl's corner, Gerry Storey.

if he fights the same sort of opposition as sonny bill williams, he'll be fine

Sonny's first fight was against a guy called Gary "the baboon" Gurr who was a few inches shorter, with a pot belly and no athletic experience whatsoever, who had never fought before and "trained" in a garage

His second fight was against this guy

don't bother me in the slightest at all,i hope he fights someone half decent and puts up a good show.
some ****ing shitheads out there saying some shithead kinda things, shitheads,i hope you get run over, then reversed over then he gets out and pours salt over you and rubbs it in with sandpaper then pisses on you, just saying, shithead:smooch

Also,to cricket fans, how, just how does your body get ruined so much playing cricket that you have to retire early,i mean, drinking tea, standing about to catch a ball, throwing a ball at a bloke with a bit of wood and said bloke hitting it and running a few yards, how?:hat
