Here's a link to some great old newsreel film of Freddie Mills knocking out Len Harvey back in 1942. I'd never seen this before and found it interesting that the fight took place in the afternoon which of course was due to the war and blackout restrictions. The footage is quite good and it offers a glimpse of the contrasting styles of the classic boxer Harvey and the wild brawler in Mills.Actually their military ranks sort of reflect their styles also, the officer and gentleman vs the scrappy N.C.O. The KO is a beauty as well. Anyway enjoy:good http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=22983
Great find Griffo looked like an incredible atmosphere, always great to turn up new finds like that and the quality was actually very impressive.
Great stuff! I recently read Gilbert Odd's bio on Harvey and am currently reading a book on Mills, so it was perfect to see actual film of the fight. Thank you! :thumbsup
