Pac's fought the best available opposition, he wants to fight Floyd, but Floyd isn't really giving him a chance to prove himself.

 

Zab patient? You keep giving Zab all these great attributes that are better than Pac's but for some reason he never shows them in his fights... You keep saying Pac is too offensive minded, but look at the proof in their fights, it's really simple to see that Pac's actually better at counter punching than Zab. I'm confident that if Floyd and Pac ever fight it will show.

 

Why did he fight David Diaz then, or Cotto instead of Mosley. How come he never fought Zahir Raheem after he beat the guy that beat him:huh

 

You're saying Pac struggles with counter punchers because he struggled with Marquez, but Marquez and Floyd are completely different types of fighters, and Pacquiao today would probably blow Marquez away. Pac's at a different level. I could twist arguments just like that saying Floyd's been caught by solid shots from southpaws, and conclude that he struggles with them also...
It's true that Floyd beating Zab was impressive, but we still can't compare it with Pac, because a lot of that could be attribute it to Zab's lack of focus, heart, etc. With that same argument I could have convinced myself that Cotto could beat Pac, but I just knew it wasn't the same.

Manny Pacquiao is also a lot more unpredictable and harder to read than Zab, which is why I say that if anything I give the stylistic advantage to Pacquiao. Zab, although super fast, and perhaps a harder puncher just felt short as a complete fighter in the elite level.

COPS? Ah, so there should be enforcers. Are state boxing commissions not enforcers? Did Pac refuse any test required by any boxing commission? Or maybe the Mayweathers, Floyd Sr especially being the most experienced in drugs are now deputized as enforcers since they're the ones accusing and demanding drug test for Pac.

Perhaps you're confusing me with a fan that excuses fighters...
I wanted Pac to fight Nate Campbell (I think he would have beaten Zahir, but that's not your point). But the truth is he ended up fighting the better competition in the higher weights and accomplishing a lot more. Cotto was definitely a safer fight than Mosely in the mind of many people, especially when he could fight Cotto who's with Top Rank. You also have to remember that at that time Pac had only fought Oscar at WW and people still tought he was to small to fight perhaps even Cotto which is why the fight was at 145. I believe that if Floyd hadn't fought Mosely in May Pac would be fighting him now and not Margarito. But that's just speculating, which is as much as you can do :good

 

No your position isn't correct, the commission doesn't set rules, they aren't enforcers at all, they simple set minimum standards to acquire a liscense in their respective states. They are athletic commissions they must liscense athletes in other areas of sport as well, but their "rules" or minimum standards do not trump and/or supersede the rules of the sport. They will enforce and/or investigate issues that involve liscensing, but they are absolutely not the governing body of boxing, period.

 

In reality, Pac doesn't need to do the drug test that is not required by the commission. Not especially since such drug test is apparently being only used by a supposed rival to duck him. Pac, after all has never failed any test given to him by any commission.

 

I think the weight issue Oscar hurt Pacquiao more than Oscar. I don't have a problem with fighting oscar because that's a smart business move, but I don't think the win should be glorified or anything.
