Marquez has it sewn up now. Watch the betting swing in his favour!

Right after Pac-JMM I, Roach said that his man did enough to deserve the win. They drew that fight.

He's just saying now, that the 2 fights were just so close.

At the press con, even though it was street clothes, Money didn't look THAT much bigger.

    Probably because he isn't. :good

I'm 100% sure that Pac's decision of making 2009 his final year in pro boxing is purely Pac's decision.

He's been saying this since a couple of years back. He's seen what happens when you stay in the game longer than you should. He's earned enough, and he's still healthy.

Everybody says that...Mosley's last year was 2006, remember? :yep

I could have sworn I read in Sports Illustrated that Freddie was the one guiding Pac to a pair of swansong paydays. Of course, that's not set in stone just because it was printed in SI...and if you say you have reason to believe it's coming from Pac, I'll take you at your word.

Roach said a few days ago, that he wants Manny's last few fights to be for the biggest fight possible, and the biggest prize possible.

Manny's gonna run for congress, 2010. No kidding.

I'm sure if I applied myself I could dig it up, but don't feel like making the effort...anybody recall what Nacho has said on public record, if anything, about the fights?

I don't think it has anything to do with what Manny has left physically. I think from Freddie's standpoint, two more fights and there will be nothing left for pac to accomplish. Also, it seems that now, more than ever, Pac really desires to get involved politically in the Philippines.

I'm pretty sure he called them both, 'robberies.'

I get that mentality, and I don't think Pac should go the Yory Boy Campas rout, but damn he's only a couple years removed from prime if not still in it...at least let his peak years run out before hanging them up, even if there are no obvious big name challenges at the top level of the sport. Some currently-obscure prospect will shoot up the rankings quick enough, or someone who's on the verge right now will string together a few high profile wins. That's how this sport works, you can go from nobody to somebody, somebody to rising star, and rising star to marquee name in the span of a year. And even if nobody does pop up on the radar that can bring the PPV numbers, so what? Give the fans a few free TV spectacles - even if they are uncompetitive clinics against the best available who happen to be not even close.

It would seem Pac's campaign ambitions don't have an expiration date, he'll be beloved by his countrymen even posthumously. But if he wants to cash in on his peak popularity now and seize the ballots, or if he's got some social agendas that he's really chomping at the bit to get in office and push through, I guess that's his prerogative. Damn shame though. Be a huge waste of talent if he retires before, say 2012 IMO.

As much as I would hate to see Pac go, it seems that doing his part to help his countrymen is what he desires most, and I can respect that.

Besides, it will be nice to see a fighter go out on top, rather than Roy Jones Jr-ing his legacy.

I see where you're coming from, but roach is such a dead-honest guy especially in his comments about DLH and hatton I doubt he would feel a need to exagurrate

    Bull****

He called the first fight as being very close because of the knockdowns, he felt his fighter did enough to win it but never called it a robbery.
