I want to go on record now to say that Clottey has a chance here. His physical strenth and durability will be problematic for Pacman.

Of course he has a chance. A much better chance than Cotto had. Clottey will be able to withstand the incoming, and will be able to counter a bit with huge uppercuts and straight right hand, as well as the jab.

    I can't wait until the 13th. I will look like the genius I am...:rasta

after how dumb you looked when Pac tore through Cotto, even if you're right on this I think it just barely gets you back to normal. :D

I have not made up my mind yet but I can definitely see 2 outcomes which are Clottey by stopping Pacman or Pacman winning on points. Styles make fights and Clottey bring unique problems for anyone he fights. Its just never an easy day in the office for whoever he fights. My probem with Clottey is that he lacks that extra fighting IQ that makes the difference between being good and grea. He has lost fights that were there to be won but failed to exploit the chances.

It'll be less effective because despite all the in, out, lateral movements he'll land few clean punches and he's unlikely to surprise Clottey with his speed because Clottey's guard is up all the time. Clottey will not throw as many punches and will not move as much but will land cleaner punches and at a higher number and rate.

Judah, a fast, powerful, fast footed, slick southpaw with blazing hand speed was landing at 20% in the first three rounds he was throwing 70 punches a round. Most of these punches, like 75%, were jabs by the way. Judah also tried very hard to go to Clottey's body, look what it got him. Bleeding nose, mouth, a cut above the eye(from a punch), completely being dominated by the 9th round; Corrales(RIP) fared worse with his body attack strategy, he had all the damage Judah had and a broken jaw and was completely dominated the whole fight and knocked down twice.

He's a master tactician and from a trainers pov, hes very good at that. Doesnt mean to take his world as bible though regarding promotional stuff, he doesnt run the show on that dept, Arum & Pac does.

You know he did not and it pains me to say this about an African fighter. The difference in that fight was that Cotto was able to make the adjustments to win the fight Clottey was not.

Clottey is tailor made for Manny, it will be a big shock to me if Clottey wins, I just dont see what Clottey can do if Pac darts in & out throwing his combo`s... as long as Pac doesnt stand in front of him for the entire fight (I think he could still win doing this TBH) then his sheer volume of punches are gonna build an impossible to catch lead.

Mayweather-Mosely is the far better fight in just about every way, just as well both fights are not on the same date because Pac & Clottey wouldnt do too well PPV wise I dont think.

Clottey loves fighting soutpaws. He keeps saying it over and over again. He can shoot the right hand out of nowhere, at the drop of a hat. Though Clottey is not a stylistic nightmare for Pac, he is not tailor made for him either. Pac still has a big, strong, skilled puzzle to solve in there.

He did do enough to win the fight. But not enough to win the decision in Madison Square Garden on the eve of the Puerto Rican Parade.

How do you score fights? 70% clean effective punches, 20% effective aggression and defense, 10% ring generalship, basic aggression and other intangibles. You score a round by who did more damage to his opponent.

Clottey style is fundamentally and technically correct, he hits cleanly without being hit, the essence of the sweet science. But the way he does it is not exciting, dynamic or crowd pleasing hence his low popularity a la Winky Wright.

If you ask any of his opponents, very few will express a desire to fight him again. They know for all the crowd response, they'll take way more damage than they inflict. Even Margarito does not mention Clottey's name as someone he wants to fight, and for all the talk of his camp wanting a rematch, Judah himself never asked for one(as far I know).

That said, there are 12 rounds in a fight and Clottey won at least 7. 3,4,5,7,8,9,10. The only clear rounds Cotto won were rounds 1(Cotto was losing that round before the KD) and 6(after he had body slammed Clottey in the 5th, limiting his movement). The other 3 rounds were close rounds. Cotto didn't adjust to win, he adjusted to survive. As I often say, watch the fight with the sound off. Watch the punches that are landing and the effect they are having on the two fighters.

But considering where Clottey was fighting, the occasion and the promoter, he had to be more dominant especially in the 11th and 12th rounds and he failed to do that. It was an unfair decision but hey, life is unfair(especially being black and coming from Africa), Clottey should have known that and gone for the kill.

clottey not being able to counter is going to be a big problem for him in this fight. pac's going to be moving a hell of a lot, especially after he throws. by the time clottey opens up that guard and goes to land something pac's going to be gone. i just can't see how clottey's going to come even close to winning this fight. i think he needs some kind of miracle like landing some once in a lifetime perfect shot to pull this out and i don't think he's going to be that lucky.
