How to lose to thinking fighters

 

Khan's footwork is prety horrendous. He falls in with his right foot, squares himself up off balance, crosses his feet as he's moving laterally, and prety much his entire overall lateral footwork is terrible. Instead of stepping over with correct footwork, what he does is just skip around from side to side. An amateurish way to move laterally because if your feet are not planted on the ground then you can't deliver a punch with proper leverage. Puke awful footwork from Khan. :-( And don't even get me started on his infighting!

Not that any of you fanboys would have a clue what I'm talking about....

 

he needs to teach these guys how to defend without using their feet

 

did you see how Amir tried to shoulder roll against the ropes a few times?

brown man cannot shoulder roll as well

 

I'm tempted to start a post about Khan's flaws, but I don't even know where the **** to begin.

 

I sure did notice that. He looked so clueless. He was trying to switch thing up so bad

 

Khan always fought like that, even before he hooked up with Roach.

 

yea, I was proud of Amir at first in the few rounds before **** went crazy

I thought he starting to develop his own identity as a fighter instead of emulating emmanuel.

 

I think Roach is allergic to inside fighting. NONE of his guys are even capable. It's a shame that someone given trainer of the year back to back isn't willing or able to teach this to his fighters.

 

Khan's footwork is not great, but it isn't awful either by any stretch of the imagination. He moves well generally, but does get sloppy at times - that's because he's a young fighter who isn't as poised yet as he will be down the line. He screwed himself tonight, but that doesn't mean he can't have a great future in boxing.

 

True, true. About the only fighter Roach has trained that could fight on the inside was Toney, and he was already an educated infighter before Freddie ever got to him.

 

Khan has ALWAYS been guilty of this, you should have seen him at the start of his career

 

which is strange because roach learned how to train and was an apprentice for Eddie Futch, who trained one of the best inside fighters of all time, Smokin' Joe Frazier
