i actually think his condition will keep him active longer...it gives him a reason to keep in shape, take his meds, eat and sleep well, wtc.
He's getting close. Going through this right now with my uncle. The point where he can't train anymore will hit quite suddenly, his activeness and use of meds really won't help. Meds only help mask the symptoms (shakiness), but the disease will reach a point where it causes dementia, then Meds won't help. He will forget things, become violent, and be on bed rest until he passes. My uncle just hit the dementia stage and its very difficult to see.
Like he and Ali both say, as bad as the Parkinson's gets, it seems to go away when you're working the bag or the mitts. It's almost as if the body ignores the disease when you're in that state of mind. I'd give him a good five years.
If training fighters is helping Freddie maintain himself let's hope he's got plenty more years left in him. But as people have already said, his most recent interviews seem to indicate further deterioration.
Sad to say his disease is starting to really take over his body. Hopefully he'll realize that and retire soon.
he then should bring in Michael Moorer. I think they work well together. The gameplan they had against Hatton worked out beautifully.
It's sad but I don't know, his Parkinsons are looking worse. Michael Moorer, former boxer and current training partner will fully train Khan and the rest of Roach's fighters, thats what I think.
i hope researchs with stem cells will go full speed and some diseases like parkinson, diabetes, alzhaimer will be -if not cured-at least more easy to treat and control. Freddie is indeed a legend.
