Freddie Roach: "Marquez deserves a 4th fight immediately".

Would prefer it if they did this after the Mayweather fight.

Pacquiao's not gonna' look too good if he's not seen making any effort to oblige Mayweather's May 5th date.

 

Marquez said he'd kill himself if he beat Pacquiao clearly, AGAIN, and didn't get the decision.

These men train to extreme degrees, neglect their family responsibilities, put everything aside for the focus of the fight. In his mind, and in many minds, he just beat Pacquiao. He'd have to knock him out to get a win. Why waste all that effort for a likely robbery? He can add to his legacy defending his lightweight titles against really good opposition.

Beating Guerrero after his recent streak? Beating Rios as he approaches his peak as a rising star? Beating A 140-pounder like Maidana, Bradley, or (can you imagine) Khan? He'd actually get recognition for those feats.

 

Also to second off the first response to this thread, this is the ONLY fight (other than Martinez who is too big IMO) that Pac can fight and get acceptance for if the Mayweather fight doesn't happen.

He should just put it off for a while until Pac gets schooled by Floyd. That way there isn't any hidden agenda with Arum or the judges. There's other fights he can take up in the meanwhile.

 

There are completely legitimate reasons to do a fourth Marquez fight now. However, there were completely legitimate reasons to do a third one years ago, if not immediately after the rematch. At that time however, Roach and Arum did not give a **** about Manny's "hurt pride" and Marquez's "deservingness" especially since they made Marquez wait around for another 4 years and chase Pacquiao further up the scales. The fact that these are being offered as the main reasons to do a rematch now strikes me as entirely disingenuous on the part of Pacquiao's team.

The Floyd fight is much bigger than Pacquiao picking up a cheap trinket at 135 or even fighting Oscar, the two fights that Marquez was placed on the backburner for in 2008.
