with all respect maybe DLH was learning on a deeper level and making it instinctual when in the ring.

Demonstrating something immediately after being taught has little bearing on applying it to future use.

That seemed to be when he was boxing the most, on his toes bouncing. I think oscar was a better fighter boxing than brawling as some of his other trainers such as Mayweather seemed to attempt to mold him into. He was more flat footed and did the stupid shoulder roll like he was black. He did that ok but he fought best on his toes and think Alcazar really honed in on that with Oscar.

Manny steward claims the only person that did that better than dlh was ray robinson. I take that w/a grain of salt. Steward gives fighters some ridiculous compliments. He claimed he never saw a fighter as wonderful as jorge linares during the demarco fight.

ODLH was ****ing great, and I'm seriously blown away that any real boxing fan would dispute that.

JCC wasn't washed up, but he was definitely diminished and past his best weight. Oscar was an up and coming ATG who simply wasn't going to lose to anyone at that point, and JCC was doing coke and ****ing hookers all through his training camps by that time.

Pac and Mayweather are far from locks to beat a LW ODLH. Anyone who's dismissing Oscar like he's some second rate fighter has hater issues, because anyone capable of watching youtube can clearly see that he was NOT.

i think it was more of the fact that manny has been coached by roach for many years and roach's style of coaching is what was tailor made for him. Oscar like you said was at the end of his career but also it was a new trainer with a different style of coaching.

Add to the fact that Freddy's been Manny's sole trainer, he's built a long life relationship with the guy, I am sure he (Roach) has mastered how to get Manny to learn quickly. While Oscar on the other hand was switching trainers like underwear.

Thanks for the post. I know there is a difference between imitation and really 'getting it' sometimes. It could be Oscar had to understand and feel right about something to be able to use it. I've done some stupid **** trying to blindly follow something I read, or thought I read instead of reasoning it out until I "owned it".

Nor did Roach say he couldn't or didn't learn.

Well that style gave him his victory, or SHOULD HAVE BEEN, against mosley the second time. He absolutely outboxed him and that style was well adapted for that fight.

Actually it did not give DLH a victory over Mosley.

The LA Times who's biased in favor of DLH sent 3 of their journalist to cover the DLH-Mosley rematch and all three scored in favor of Mosley.

In fact, the story for days after Mosley's decision victory over DLH was HBO's blatant and biased call of the fight that had the casual viewer brainwashed into belieiving DLH was robbed.

The fans that saw the fight live with no broadcast team were fine with the decision.
Those that viewed the HBO telecast were up at arms because Lampley and co. were telling them DLH won going away.:nut
