Freddie Roach says GGG beat Canelo; GGG could be best P4P

Time for what? To hold on to the belt? For the purse bid that'll take place after Canelo's May fight? He doesn't have that much time. Also, you may not believe it, but Canelo does have a more pride than Mayweather. And unlike Mayweather, has a reputation that he holds dearly, a reputation of not ducking fighters.

 

GGG is already the best P4P (barring Gonzalez, only occasionally followed his career)

 

Freddy also said, Pac would beat Floyd, Cotto would beat Canelo, etc, etc.

 

The truth finally comes out of Roach's mouth about GGG. When Cotto had the belt, he wouldn't say these things about GGG, but now that Cotto no longer has the belt, he's finally honest with his assessment.

 

Freddie is right on the money GGG probably is P4P #1 that's why they don't want to fight him. Someone said earlier El Pollo Canelo is a proud Mexican fighter. If so show some cojones & fight GGG at 160 & prove he's a real proud Mexican fighter.

 

Canelo has fought much better opposition than most of the top fighters today.

 

IF GGG wants to be p4p no1 he needs to get a move on. age is the only thing holding him back

 

Freddie is still the best trainer active today. Sign of a good trainer he talks up his own fighters. He knew that Cotto would get slaughtered against GGG but wouldn't say so

Exactly. P4P isn't a popularity contest. I am a GGG fan but Gonzalez and Rigo are being overlooked. I don't think many people really want to fight either and they both have better wins at their weights than GGG has.

 

Roman Gonzalez should be ranked higher than GGG on the P4P list. Easily.

there is NO WAY GBP wants Canelo in the ring with GGG until father time erodes GGG's skills.

Mayweather did it to Pac and O$CAR will attempt to do the same thing to GGG.

 

I don't know if I'd rate him as the # 1 P4P fighter, but he's definitely up there. I also think he'd do a number to Alvarez if they ever met up.

I don't know, I look at the #1 P4P fighters of the last 15 years or so, guys like ROy JOnes Jr, Bernard Hopkins, FLoyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao- and what they all had in common was they were the rulers of multiple weight classes. Those guys really dared to be GREAT. I'm still waiting to see that on Gennady's part before I give him consideration as the best P4P fighter right now.

I guess that's probably one of the main reasons I rate Roman Gonzalez, a multiple division weight ruler, over someone like Golovkin. I mean it's at the point now where they're discussing the possibility of Chocalitito meeting Rigo at a CW of possibly 118. That's a guy that really is daring to be great.
