Freddie is the best coach in the world full stop.

 

Big credit should go to Roach no doubt.


If Hatton and Manny had never seen much of each other before, I dare say things would have different. On the couple (literally) times Hatton caught Manny, he felt it I think...

Manny was well drilled for the fight.


Credit to Roger Mayweather as well... who may have set the blue print prior to the fight...

 

I do wonder whether an early knockdown/stumble/back peddle (pts loss) was part of the strategy to send Hatton totally - recklessly - gung ho. Not that they needed it...

 

Freddie Roach indeed deserves massive credit.

Not only is he a great coach but he's an inspiration to so many people with the way he deals with Parkinsons disease and still able to do his job to maximum effect.

 

I've always been impressed with Roach the most and if I was a fighter I would choose him everytime.

He guides everything in training, from fitness and making weight right through the technical aspects.

His reading of the game is superb. I mean the fact he spotted the punches Hatton was open to, put it into practice and predicted the way the fight would unfold whilst Hatton's camp were talking about being "big and strong" is really indicative.

He speaks with great clarity in the corner. It's clear and concise, what he expects and any adjustments.

He is very empathetic towards his fighter, he is somebody that is a genuine person that I could see would be easy to get along with. It's important to trust your trainer when times are tough and you are looking to him in the corner.

Roach is very good trainer. Hatton should not retire until he has lots of time to really think. If a fight, any fighter can lose by one punch, such as Lewis Vs. Rahman, or Joe Louis!

 

Without doubt, Roach deserves a lot of credit for masterminding such a comfortable victory for his boxer.
It has to be said though that Roach was fortunate enough to work with a boxer who listened to the advice given and took it all on board. Mayweather snr had to work with somebody who thought he knew better.

In the after fight interview, Roach said he'd watched videos of Hatton's fights for the previous 2 months. Hatton's style is very predictable and on the night he showed that he hasn't changed.

 

I don't know a damn thing about training a fighter, or any of the technical aspects of boxing but I do know about trust and belief. Manny executed a gameplan but last week Roach was saving Gerry Penalosa from a greater beating than he was already getting. For me, that was the sign of his class and why he illicits such trust form his camp.

(I know he wasn't there for the Oisin ***an fight for Khan, but that was the first steps in a relationship)

 

Freddie Roach is a great trainer.

Also Roach really wanted to train Khan, he know something about Khan... finally Khan joined his camp!
