It's not that he wants to bloat Marquez. He just doesn't want Manny to strain his body is trying to lose weight. Marquez can come at any weight he wants. Pacquiao will probably come at 146 so it actually doesn't matter whether the fight is contractually at 140 or 147.

 

Pacquiao can make 140 easily. They simply dont want to have to cut any weight; it in all likelihood would not be a difficult endeavor outside of the routine preparations every boxer has to go through. God forbid they don't pump Pacquiao with tons of food every day.

I criticized Mayweather for doing it, and I'd do the same here.

 

Ofcourse it should be at 140, Pac isn't drained, JMM isn't too stretched, although he would be a bit. At 147 Pac yet again has massive advanatages at the weigh in, this is getting silly now. Make it a sporting event, at 146 this was a joke fight for Mayweather nearly 2 years ago (by the time it happens), JMM will be 2 years older and all of a sudden its a credible opponent?

 

What do you expect. Pac needs to have all the advantages to become a 'great' fighter.

And like someone else said. This will affect everyones view of him in the future.

I mean plenty of people bring up Chavez and Leonard for fighting at catchweights. They did it less times than Manny. I think they should seriously consider putting his record breaking 8th weight classes with an asterik beside it and explain some were not legit and some were catchweights.
