That was a really great episode of Inside MMA with Freddie and Andre Ward. The respect shown to both sports was very admirable.
I don´t think Tyson would be a good choice...... Paul Berlenbach would be the best boxer to make the transition.....AAU Wrestling champion and his resume at Boxing was really good......
None of those guys stand out as boxers. Maybe henderson and jds as sluggers who can put them together more. If you want to see on YouTube, jds sparring elite boxer. Interesting how limited the mma fighter can be. Footage of Fedor and dennis lebedev (Kostya tszyu present) was disappointing considering fedors striking record. Obviously ones with muay Thai can fight, watching a.silva spar a bum on ytube was a good viewing. Gsp also surprisingly fewer dimensions for a dynamic and skilled fighter
I think it would have to be a fighter tall, with a great jab and defensive footwork......Tyson would be perhaps easy to takedown...
Get out of here you muppet!!! On what grounds is Diaz, Penn and even GSP better boxers?! This is the problem with MMA fans you think boxing is about knockouts and probably think Mike Tyson the greatest boxer who ever lived! There's a reason boxers don't win in MMA and MMA guys win in boxing & it's called 'styles'. GSP uses a long jab to set up takedown nothing more. If his opponent did not have to watch for the take down he would be easier to counter. Bisping is a far better boxer than you think. he jabs, hooks, uses upper body movement, is fleet of foot and uses the ring. Being knocked out does not change the fact he is a good boxer. You confuse unorthodox striking with good striking - BIG mistake. First lets debunk Diaz. Who outboxed him?...gee let me think...Conduit maybe? and how? By using movement. Diaz wouldn't go far in boxing and has only been picked because he trains with Roach so of course Roach will pick him! in fact it was another boxer who shamed Roach's prized asset, Manny, by using movement and counters. Now lets look at Penn. Roach has been riding him for years but being a natural puncher does not make you a natural boxer. GSP made Penn look a fool using his jab........wow...great boxer! He had zero footwork nor upper body movement so was powerless. Machida got KO'd by Shogun because leg kicks were allowed. Take that away and Machinda has very fast, precise punching with good power and great movement and would have run rings around Shogun. Henderson though a little old knows how to set up his punches, wear opponents down like a mexican boxer does and hide his power shot. He also rolls with punches very well. These are all key attributes for boxers. Jon Jones I'm not even going to break down if you think he can't box well more the pity for you. Bottom line: Boxers don't use leg kicks and don't set up take downs so the stances are a little different. Look at the fundamentals not just unorthodox striking - learn a thing or two. I've been watching boxing for many years.
