Roach seems to be hating on almost all coaches his fighters have faced their fighters. sometimes he says things that make me wonder if he is really genuine though. So i am not sure if he meant those names he said, or its the opposite.

You must've forgot, he motivated Tarver by telling him Roy didn't respect him....or something like that.

Thel Torrence is actually a very underrated trainer. He knows his stuff.

i dont think buddy is very good....at the same time...he takes alot of crap...because alot of the guys hes worked with over the last 5 + years havent faired too well....

however...his guys, for the most part, have been pretty good sized underdogs...and for good reason....so his track record isnt a big suprise...i think he was working with a pretty good handicap

Agreed :good Not trying to talk **** but Id trust Roaches opinion before the posters on this thread.

Also Thell Torrance has long been a respected trainer just cause he hasnt had anyone in a while dont mean hes not a great trainer.

Hell Bouie Fisher was a great trainer but know one knew that until Hopkins put him out there. Same with Nazeem richardson.

I believe Roach is going by what they do in gym with fighters, teaching and conditioning, not how they work corners.

Thats what makes a good trainer, majority of well known fighters have gone thru a few and many times that current trainers only have a little bit to do with the success of them.

There are exceptions, i mean I believe Roach has made Manny a much better fighter and Steward helped Lennox(but his help with Lewis is a little overrated) Steward should recieve more credit for Hearns,Mccellan,Kenty,Mccory guys he has been with from the beginning.

I always liked McGirt as a fighter a lot and as a person he seems alright to me. As a trainer...I don't get it either man. When I hear him in the corner, he never sounds like he's saying anything particularly useful and I just don't see him as being very good.

Based on his style in the ring i would think he would be a great trainer. He seems old school.
