Hi GA. Don't forget that Jake was outfought(and held close in other instances) by Fritzie Zivic, a welterweight puncher. True, Jake was maybe a bit young, but in fact several welterweights gave Jake a good argument during his career. So it can be done

 

From what I've read Zivic turned boxer in those fights. When it came down to brawling, Jake had the better of it, although Zivic being the durable and experienced battler that he was hung in there all the way. He had height and reach advantages over Jake, while Ceferino Garcia was a short and stocky puncher who belted out the bigger Fred Apostoli.
