Its truly bizarre to pretend Steele ducked Apostoli. He fought him in 1935 when Apostoli was pre prime and then fought him again in 1938 at the height of Apostoli's fame and prime, when Steele had just lost his father figure/Manager Dave Miller. When exactly was he supposed to fight him between 1935 and Jan 1938 that he didnt? He fought him exactly when the fight was as big as it could have been and exactly when Apostoli had the best case for getting the fight. Steele fought Ken Overlin in 1937 six months after Overlin beat Apostoli and knocked him out. Should he have instead fought the loser of that fight?
