Just reading the excellent article about Welsh on the home page reminded me about another article I saw not so long ago. The article stated that footage of the fight had survived, has anybody ever seen it? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=28817&more=1
No footage of Ritchie Welsh is known to survive. Also Casey's description of Ritchie Welsh is strange considering that fight was very controversial with many feeling Ritchie had been robbed. Ritchie himself brought back a copy of the film of the fight to the United States to show the press that he had indeed been robbed but it was confiscated by federal agents as per the ban on fight films in the USA and promptly destroyed.
 Big fan of Willie Ritchie's style. He had fast hands, threw combinations and from what I've seen of the two probably outworked the defensive Freddie Welsh.
Just found the article mate and it states footage survives? I wonder where it is, the person writing the article appears to be spot on talking about other footage. http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/arts/sites/film/pages/sport.shtml Driscoll also appeared demonstrating his skills in The Art of Boxing documentary in 1920. Pontypridd's Freddie Welsh's 1909 fight with Johnny Summers and 1910 winning non-title contest with Jim Driscoll were caught on film, together with Welsh's British title fight with Jack Daniels and his bout with Packy McFarland the same year. His 1914 lightweight world championship-winning fight with Willie Ritchie also survives.
I dont doubt that it could exist somewhere but currently it hasnt been catalogued anywhere and isnt known to exist. Id love to see it if it does.
