“Manny will knock him out,...I’ve been studying tapes of him (Clottey), (and) he’s not very good. I think if we break him (Clottey) down, we can get him out of there in the late rounds."

"He (Clottey) has a passive defense and leaves his body wide open for a while when he puts his hands up like that. When we dig to the body and break him down, I think we can get him out of there."

“It (Clottey’s size) is always a concern, of course. But the thing is, going into the ring, my guy (Pacquiao) is going to be about 149 (lbs) and the other guy will is going to have to be about 10-12 pounds on him and be bigger. But size doesn’t win fights. Ability does!"

    -Freddy Roach

I think Clottey is a good fighter. However, I believe Manny should beat him with relative ease. Manny has way too much hand and footspeed for Clottey. As long as he doesn't stand right in front of him, he shouldn't have too many problems.

roach tell em all as honestly as he sees it. maybe he has this high standards of what is "very good" and just "good" or not. but this is boxing and not all the more skillful fighters wins. sometimes, someone wins just because of size or pure determination or just plain hunger.

Roach is beginning to believe his own nonsense.

His world will come crashing down on March 13th when Pac gets the **** beat out of him.

Margo's brick hands, and compubox record of punches wasn't enough to make Clottey blink. Pac doesn't hit harder than Margo, and he won't be any busier. He ain't stoppin ****, except at the Dallas Memorial Hospital once he gets stretched in time for me to make it to the club that night...

Roachs comments arent really going to help Mannys ticket
sales and PPV buys, instead of bagging Clottey - I wouldve
thought a better move wouldve been to talk him up and at
least create some kinda buzz or reason for us to think it
    could be an interesting fight.

These are Roach's thoughts on the fight, this weeks thoughts anyway.

Clottey likely doesnt have the workrate to win it, but he has the defense and skill to make Pacman miss and outbox him at times

I'll be really shocked if Manny is able to knock him out or stop him late, a clear UD is my pick in a very exciting fight.

If you had to wait for this to know he knows his stuff then you must have issues.

If he isnt any good then why is your man fighting him? LOL

I hope Clottey puts up a good fight, it would be great if someone ran Manny very close.

But everything points to him loosing, I mean failry short notice, no trainer etc

This is an excellent fight for Pacquiao. He's getting over 90% of the guarenteed money, and he's probably getting just about all the ppv money and probably won't have to share any live gate money with Clottey. So in the end, he's taking on a much easier fight than he would be against Mayweather, and he's going to probably wind making around $20 mill or more for this fight. He will also be better prepared if he does face Mayweather in his next fight, and that fight won't be rushed and it will do bigger numbers than it would have had it taken place in March.

Clottey throws punches like they cost him money,Pac wins this on workrate alone.

    ESB TRANSLATION SERVICE

TRANS: I'm going to start with a bald statement of opinion, but you, the press, are such sycophants and starved for content that you'll undoubtedly print it as if it means something. I'm going to follow this up with a bare-arsed tautology, something along the lines of "If birds could fly, then they'd be airborne" and, again, you're so ******ed and grateful for column-filler you'll not notice what I've done.

TRANS: We really don't like the way he leaves his hands up there with his big forearms blocking the way. That could make it rather hard to hit him in the head. So I'm going to pretend that we're going to concentrate on the body, which is actually defended pretty well, in the the hope that this will induce him to drop his hands, so we can get on with the important business of hitting him in the head with greater ease.

TRANS: No. I hadn't realized he was as big as he is. ****.

If he could take Cotto's bodypunches im sure he wont have any problem dealing with Clottey's.
