Omar is TERRIBLE...He has a draw against Miguel Hernandez who at the time has a 0-10-2 record...And lately he won a split decision against Rodrigo Juarez who was 15-10-1...Not good...At least Julio jr has beaten some fringe contenders like Vanda, Rowland, Cuello, Celaya...
I think Chavez Jr. recieves more hype and criticism that he should get. Maybe Roach can fix his flaws and get him some confidence back. If he can do that, I'd be really impressed. You just don't throw Jr. into the lion's den at that young of an age. It all starts by putting him in against opponents that are up to his skill level, but even then..I'd wager that Chavez Jr. just doesn't have the 'it' factor that his dad had. Seriously, Chavez Jr. getting ppv shows is an absolute disgrace. We all know he's riding his daddy's coatail of fame and fortune, but its not his entire fault why he sucks in the first place.
giggling should be banned from the sport of boxing. my spidersence was tingling when i saw manny and clottey giggling at the weigh in
We'll always have his daddy on DVD if we want to see what a true elite level fighter looks like. The man's a legend.
Alot of people dont like the fact that Jr. has gotten the attention because of his dad's name......I think thats the reason why people are in a rush to point to that he's overrated and all hype. Personally through having seen him from the start, I thought early on he was developing nicely. His skills imo are good. He has a reach on most that he does'nt like to use because he wants to fight in the mold of his father. The Vanda fights imo show what Jr. can do when he choses to use his height and reach to box. After having a tough time with Vanda in their first fight, Jr. completely dominated Vanda in their rematch by using his height, reach and boxing skill. The problem I feel with Jr. is that the rumors that he's been lazy in the past are true. In the fights lately where Jr. has been tested, he's looked gassed in the late rounds. You can attribute that to a poor training camp, so I look to at the very least for Freddie Roach to get that straightened out with Jr. I for one am rooting for Chavez Jr. and hope that seeing Freddie Roach conduct his training camps, lights a fire under Chavez Jr. to better himself both physically and skillwise. Honestly, I see and believe Chavez Jr to have good boxing instincts.
Why is Freddie training Chavez Jr? Surely he doesn't need the money. He's got so many more deserving boxers in his stable already. Is he just that big of a starf*cker?
Good Post i agree:good He has good boxing instincts and mediocre skills. Which could end up landing him a big fight. He might not win a title but he is better than most here give him credit for, although he looked bad in his last couple fights, i think things are going to change for the better and he will improve on what we saw before.
At first when I heard Duddy/Chavez was signed I thought Duddy will win because of his size but Roach is such a factor with his fighters that I favor Chavez now in this matchup.
