Interesting choice. Curious if Povetkin will come Stateside and train at Wildcard. Would be far more oogical than Freddy going to Russia while trying to manage his Parkinson's. I doubt it will make much difference.Povetkin has had at least four different trainers in the past 5-6 years. Switching trainers almost never pays immediate dividends. In fact it could actually hurt. Hopefully Freddie will at least have a cutman in Sasha's corner come fight night. Something Kostya did not deem necessary for Lebedev's last fight. Probably explains why Kostya got dumped by Lebedev as well.
Povetkin has changed trainers 3-4 times now.....it isn't going to change anything, he's the fighter that he is at this point. Maybe it helps with promotion of the fight, or an excuse for when he gets KO'd, or all of the above. Might as well bring in Buddy McGirt, I'm sure Buddy could learn how to say "pop the jab, drink some water baby! I'm gonna pull the plug" in Russian.
