You're right about that last part! No boxer is going to lose muscle mass because he dropped weight for a fight. you deplete as much glycogen & stored fat as possible, and then on the last day (only you also dehydrate, but there is no way you're going to get your body to start actually breaking down muscle, without being completely incapacitated. You wouldn't have the energy to walk around, let alone train.
