I don't get why people keep saying this, but it seems to crop up everytime a catchweight fight with cotto/mosley is mentioned. In the pacquiao-oscar fight, they both made admissions on weight for the fight - oscar came down from 154 and pacquiao moved up. They were both at a disadvantage in regards to weight.

Pacquiao is most comfortable (from Roach himself) at 140lbs, so why should he move up to 147 to fight the fighters at Welterweight that WANT to fight him? If Cotto and Mosley want to fight him they should come down, never mind a catchweight, let alone having Pac go up to 147 and be at a disadvantage!

Pacquiao calls the shots. But if those two aren't willing to drop down, there really is no better money around until after Marquez/Mayweather. All things considered, fighting Cotto at 147lb is a win/win situation.

Manny looked just as good at 147lb as he did at 140lb. If he beats a 143lb Cotto, people will bring up the weight as an excuse.

All the interesting fights for Pac are at 147.

    So who should shift weight?

I don't think Mosley is gonna be able to cut any more weight, considering his unofficial weight in his last two fights was 160. So its either Pac fights him at 147, or he doesn't fight him at all. I don't wanna see Mosley looking like a skeletor.

Pac beating Cotto and Mosley with a weight disadvantage is actually something that he's good enough to pull off.

TBH, I'd be very happy with a Pacquiao vs Tim Bradley sometime in late summer.

He didn't seem to carry as much power up at 147 based on DLH saying he didn't punch hard and also the beating DLH took on his feet (compared to the Hatton fight at 140!)

Well, if Mosley and Mayweather etc want the fight they should be willing to move down. If it's Pacquiao who is actively trying to set the fight up then he should move up. I just don't get why everyone's saying it should be Pac who moves up just because Mosley and Cotto have mentioned they'd like a fight against him, they say he should because he did against Oscar, but they were totally different situations.

his reluctance to do so proves that DLH was a handpicked fight. At the very least he should be willing to fight them at 144 pounds not 142 or some other BS. It tells me that Roach does not have much faith in his fightert against elite fighters such as Mosley and PBF.

This 142 pound garbage is a no lose situation for Manny. Manny might want to take a lesson from Billy Conn or Georges Carpentier who fought much bigger men and did not do all of the complaining and crying that Roach is doing now.

It was Oscar who called Pacquiao out rather than the other way round remember.
Oscar also moved down 7lbs for the fight. Cotto and Mosley wouldn't be moving down if it was at 147, therefore giving them the physical advantage. Bear in mind DLH also said Pacquiao didn't punch hard at 147.
I'm just saying if Cotto or Mosley want the fight, it should be on Pacquiao's terms this time. If it was Pacquiao himself who was campaigning for the fight it's a different matter. When Pacquiao fought at 147, he weighed in at 148 on fight night. Cotto and Mosley come in at about 160lbs!

Why would Roach put his fighter at serious risk by fighting full fledged welters that will outweight him by at least 10 pounds?
It's obviously Pac got his limitations(and it's a good thing Roach sees them), it's not like he can challenge elite fighters in every division.
He's the top dog right now, and everyone should be willing to accept his conditions.

if they are saying Floyd will have to take 35% then they do not want the fight period. That is ludicrous. Screw Arum and screw Roach and Manny.

This is making the ducking/demands Roy Jones did in his career look like child's play.

    What a joke.

Because he has balls? It is a fight. There are 100's of examples in Boxing history of smaller fighters fighting bigger ones. Nobody was killed. This is beginning to become a complete farce. If Manny wants to fight the best he will have to fight them at their weight. If not he is ducking them for fear of losing.

pac went up two weight classes while dlh went down 1 weight class for their fight. it would've been ludicrous for pac to jump up 3 weight classes and fight dlh @154 instead. so, the fight happening @147 was but fair to both of them.

and as for pac fighting either mosley or cotto, i think the catchweight is actually 143 not 142. pac was quoted as saying that he is willing to fight cotto @147. but it is roach who wants it @143. i guess pac wants that 7th weight division championship @147.

Nobody said he should have fought DLH at 154. Manny fighting at 147 provers he can do it and it happened to be a shot DLH. If you want to be a welterweight champion fight the fighters at welterweight not some BS catchweight that ONLY benefits Manny.
